Direct Numerical Simulation of turbulent Taylor-Couette flow
The direct numerical simulation (DNS) of the Taylor--Couette flow in the fully turbulent regime is described. The numerical method extends the work by Quadrio & Luchini (Eur. J. Mech.

Abstract Langmuir turbulence affects turbulent mixing in the ocean boundary layers and its effects require parameterizations in ocean circulation models. Most existing Langmuir turbulence parameterizations focus on the surface boundary layer in open oceans.

Couette Flow of Two-Dimensional Foams
We experimentally investigate flow of quasi two-dimensional disordered foams in Couette geometries, both for foams squeezed below a top plate and for freely floating foams. With the top-plate, the flows are strongly localized and rate dependent.

Crater lakes in core regions of former ice sheets have the potential to preserve long‐term sedimentary archives that are otherwise rare in glaciated landscapes due to pervasive glacial erosion. Lake Wiyâshâkimî, an impact crater lake located in the inner core of the Québec‐Labrador Dome of the Laurentide Ice Sheet, provides a rare example of such a ...

Nonlinear dynamo in a short Taylor-Couette setup
It is numerically demonstrated by means of a magnetohydrodynamics code that a short Taylor-Couette setup with a body force can sustain dynamo action. The magnetic threshold is comparable to what is usually obtained in spherical geometries.

Nanographene oxide (NGO) attenuates graft‐versus‐host disease (GVHD) severity by inhibiting STAT1‐mediated M1 macrophage polarization and suppressing T‐cell activation. NGO‐primed macrophages (NGO‐Mac) further enhance regulatory T‐cell induction via IL‐10. Both NGO and NGO‐Mac therapies mitigate inflammation and immune pathology, offering cell‐free and

NUMERICAL EXPLORATION OF VISCOUS FLOW REGIMES: INSIGHTS FROM POISEUILLE, COUETTE AND TAYLOR-COUETTE FLOWS [PDF]
We present a numerical study for Poiseuille and Couette as well as Taylor- Couette swirling flows. The governing equations of momentum and energy are transformed into coupled and nonlinear ordinary differential equations using similarity transformation ...

The linear instability of the stratified plane Couette flow
We present the stability analysis of a plane Couette flow which is stably stratified in the vertical direction orthogonally to the horizontal shear. Interest in such a flow comes from geophysical and astrophysical applications where background shear and ...

Flow geometry. ABSTRACT This research formulates a two‐phase mathematical model to investigate the dynamics of a Maxwell dusty fluid across a linearly stretching surface embedded within a Darcy–Forchheimer porous medium, influenced by a magnetic field and varying thermal conductivity.
