Correlated transport through junction arrays in the small Josephson energy limit: incoherent Cooper-pairs and hot electrons

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
We study correlated transport in a Josephson junction array for small Josephson energies. In this regime transport is dominated by Cooper-pair hopping, although we observe that quasiparticles can not be neglected.

Correlations of conductance peaks and transmission phases in deformed quantum dots

open access: yes, 1998
We investigate the Coulomb blockade resonances and the phase of the transmission amplitude of a deformed ballistic quantum dot weakly coupled to leads. We show that preferred single--particle levels exist which stay close to the Fermi energy for a wide ...

Edge channel confinement in a bilayer graphene n–p–n quantum dot

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
We combine electrostatic and magnetic confinement to define a quantum dot in bilayer graphene. The employed geometry couples n -doped reservoirs to a p -doped dot. At magnetic field values around $B=2$ T, Coulomb blockade is observed.

Lateral electrical transport, optical properties and photocurrent measurements in two-dimensional arrays of silicon nanocrystals embedded in SiO2

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2011
In this study we investigate the electronic transport, the optical properties, and photocurrent in two-dimensional arrays of silicon nanocrystals (Si NCs) embedded in silicon dioxide, grown on quartz and having sizes in the range between less than 2 and ...

Zeeman smearing of the Coulomb blockade

open access: yes, 2001
Charge fluctuations of a large quantum dot coupled to a two-dimensional lead via a single-mode good Quantum Point Contact (QPC) and capacitively coupled to a back-gate, are investigated in the presence of a parallel magnetic field.

A single-electron probe for buried optically active quantum dot

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2012
We present a simple method that enables both single electron transport through a self-assembled quantum dot and photon emission from the dot. The quantum dot buried in a semiconductor matrix is electrically connected with nanogap electrodes through ...
