From the Coulomb blockade regime to the Non-Coulomb blockade regime

Physica B: Condensed Matter, 2014
Abstract The investigations on the Coulomb blockade (CB) effect, which strongly affects the transport properties of the quantum devices, are generally restricted to the regime where the Coulomb repulsion U is far larger than the temperature T, yet the critical status was not discussed.

Coulomb blockade of resonant tunneling

Physical Review B, 1990
Ultrasmall double-barrier semiconductor structures are investigated in terms of the semiclassical sequential theory of resonant tunneling. The quantization of the charge buildup in the quantum well is taken into account. A peaked I-V characteristic is obtained, with each peak corresponding to an integer number of electrons in the well.

Coulomb blockade of two-electron tunneling

Physical Review Letters, 1993
We study the Coulomb blockade in a superconducting grain, connected to two normal electrodes by tunnel junctions. At small bias, the conductance of this system is due to electrons passing in pairs through the grain. The linear conductance is periodic in the gate voltage.

High-Temperature Coulomb Blockade

Siberian Journal of Physics, 2009
The Coulomb blockade effect is studied in a single-electron transistor – quantum dot, separated from source and drain areas by tunnel junctions. Peculiarity of the transistor is that it is made on the basis of semiconducting membrane, separated from the suffer.

Coulomb blockade with voltage-dependent capacitance

Physical Review B, 1993
The effect of voltage-dependent capacitance on the Coulomb blockade is discussed. The effect is caused by the redistribution of the voltage-induced charge on the capacitor plates. A semiconducting microstructure for observation of this effect is proposed. Its energy-charge dependence is obtained by means of Thomas-Fermi theory.
