Coulomb blockade without potential barriers
We study transport through a strongly correlated quantum dot and show that Coulomb blockade can appear even in the presence of perfect contacts. This conclusion arises from numerical calculations of the conductance for a microscopic model of spinless ...

Unconventional bias dependence of tunnel magnetoresistance induced by the Coulomb blockade effect
In conventional magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs), the tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) monotonically decreases with increasing bias voltage, which limits the bias voltage range for the operation of MTJs.

Coulomb Blockade due to Quantum Phase-Slips Illustrated with Devices
In order to illustrate the emergence of Coulomb blockade from coherent quantum phase-slip processes in thin superconducting wires, we propose and theoretically investigate two elementary setups, or "devices".

Coulomb blockade in superconducting quantum point contacts
Amplitude of the Coulomb blockade oscillations is calculated for a single-mode Josephson junction with arbitrary electron transparency $D$. It is shown that the Coulomb blockade is suppressed in ballistic junctions with $D\to 1$.

Coulomb blockade of small Pd clusters
Single-electron tunneling through Au substrate-alkanethiol-Pd cluster-tip junctions is investigated with scanning tunneling spectroscopy. The measured I(V) curves reveal several characteristic features of the Coulomb blockade, namely, the presence of a Coulomb gap and a Coulomb staircase.
