A Geometrically Regularized Gradient‐Damage Model With Orthogonality‐Based Energy Split for Dynamic Anisotropic Compression‐Shear Fracture

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study proposes a novel geometrically regularized gradient‐damage model for simulating dynamic mixed‐mode fracture in orthotropic materials with tension–compression asymmetry. In this model, a thermodynamic framework is formulated by incorporating damage dissipation into internal energy evolution, from which the constitutive relation and ...

Complete Coulomb failure stress changes and stress triggering of Yunnan Longlingearthquake sequence

open access: yesChinese Journal of Geophysics, 2007
The complete Coulomb failure stress changes caused by the 1976 Ms73, Ms74 Yunnan Longling double main earthquakes are calculated. And dynamic and static stress triggering effects on the after earthquake sequence are studied. The results show that the second main earthquake is subjected to the triggering effect of dynamic and static Coulomb ...

Coulomb stress models for the 2019 Ridgecrest, California earthquake sequence

Tectonophysics, 2020
Abstract We present a Coulomb stress analysis for the July 4th Mw 6.4 and July 5th Mw 7.1 earthquakes of the 2019 Ridgecrest, California earthquake sequence. We find that the Coulomb stress on the Mw 6.4 rupture plane was increased by the 1872 Owens Valley earthquake and slightly increased by the 1952 Kern County earthquake.
