Analysis of Coulomb Stress Changes in Aceh Earthquake on Sibayak Volcano

open access: goldJPFT (Jurnal Pendidikan Fisika dan Teknologi), 2022
Based on geological conditions, Indonesia is located between the Indo-Australian plate, the Eurasian plate, and the Pacific plate, making Indonesia prone to tectonic earthquakes.

COULOMB STRESS CHANGES DUE TO RECENT ACEH EARTHQUAKES

open access: greenJurnal Penelitian Fisika dan Aplikasinya, 2015
Coulomb stress change analysis has been applied to understand whether the 2013/07/02 (Mw=6.1) has been triggered by 2013/01/21 earthquake (Mw=6.1) the proximity to failure on the Aceh segment of Sumatra Fault Zone (SFZ). We examine the problem of how one

Earthquake Growth Inhibited at Higher Coulomb Stress Change Rate at Groningen [PDF]

open access: goldGeophysical Research Letters
Gas extraction from the Groningen gas field resulted in significant induced seismicity. We analyze the magnitude‐frequency distribution of these earthquakes in space, time and in view of stress changes calculated based on gas production and reservoir ...

Coulomb stress changes and magnitude-frequency distribution for Lake Van region

open access: diamondBulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration, 2022
The tectonic structure of Türkiye is under the influence of Arabian, Eurasian, African, and Anatolian plates. Lake Van region, located in eastern Türkiye, has been exposed to many devastating earthquakes in historical and instrumental periods.

Analysis of Sumatran Earthquake Coulomb Stress Changes in Geothermal Potential in Rianite, Samosir Regency

open access: goldJPFT (Jurnal Pendidikan Fisika dan Teknologi), 2023
Increasing energy demand and high world oil prices are making countries turn to geothermal energy use. Indonesia is a country that has geothermal energy due to Indonesia's geographical location and geological conditions, which is located between three ...

Investigation of Coulomb stress changes in south Tibet (central Himalayas) due to the 25th April 2015 M W 7.8 Nepal earthquake using a Coulomb stress transfer model [PDF]

open access: goldEarthquake Science, 2016
After M W 7.8 Nepal earthquake occurred, the rearrangement of stresses in the crust commonly leads to subsequent damaging earthquakes. We present the calculations of the coseismic stress changes that resulted from the 25th April event using models of ...

Exploring Coulomb stress changes on active structures in Taiwan inferred from decadal GNSS observations [PDF]

open access: goldEarth, Planets and Space
Although earthquakes cannot yet be accurately predicted, many scientific endeavors have been put forth to forecast the probabilities of earthquake occurrences, aiming to mitigate seismic hazards.

PETRINJA EARTHQUAKE AFTERSHOCKS – LOCATIONS, FOCAL MECHANISMS AND RELATED COULOMB STRESS CHANGE [PDF]

open access: gold2nd Croatian Conference on Earthquake Engineering ‒ 2CroCEE, 2023
Almost 14000 aftershocks have been located in the first six month after the Mw 6.4 Petrinja earthquake of 29 December 2020. Most epicentres lie close to the NW–SE striking right-lateral causative fault, but considerable activity has been recorded in the surrounding area up to about 50 km away.

Coulomb stress change on inland faults during megathrust earthquake cycle in southwest Japan [PDF]

open access: goldEarth, Planets and Space, 2020
AbstractIn the subduction zone, megathrust earthquakes may modulate the shallow crustal seismicity in the overriding plate. Historical documents indicate the frequent occurrence of large shallow crustal earthquakes in the overriding continental plate 50 years before and 10 years after the megathrust earthquakes along the Nankai trough in southwest ...

Coulomb stress changes in Hesperia Planum, Mars, reveal regional thrust fault reactivation [PDF]

open access: bronzeJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, 2005
The orthogonal pattern of NE and NW striking wrinkle ridges in Hesperia Planum makes this area unique and enigmatic. The wrinkle ridge morphologies revealed in Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter topography across ridge structures in Hesperia Planum suggest that wrinkle ridges form above thrust faults.
