COUNTER-ROTATION IN RELATIVISTIC MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMIC JETS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2014
Young stellar object observations suggest that some jets rotate in the opposite direction with respect to their disk. In a recent study, Sauty et al. (2012) have shown that this does not contradict the magnetocentrifugal mechanism that is believed to launch such outflows.

Design procedure for a wind-wheel with self-adjusting blade mechanism

open access: yesTrudy Odesskogo Politehničeskogo Universiteta, 2014
Developed is a wind-wheel design equipped with the self-adjusting blade. The blade is positioned eccentrically to the balance wheel and can freely rotate around its axis. Elaborated is the method of calculating the energy characteristics for a wind-wheel

Generalized counter-rotating oscillators: Mixed synchronization [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation, 2015
In this paper, we report mixed synchronization between two counter rotating chaotic oscillators. We describe a procedure how to obtain a counter rotating oscillator for generalized oscillators. We elaborate the method with numerical examples of the Sprott system, Pikovsky-Rabinovich (PR) circuit model.

A NOTE ON THE CYLINDRICAL COLLAPSE OF COUNTER-ROTATING DUST [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics D, 2002
We find analytical solutions describing the collapse of an infinitely long cylindrical shell of counter-rotating dust. We show that — for the classes of solutions discussed herein — from regular initial data a curvature singularity inevitably develops, and no apparent horizons form, thus in accord with the spirit of the hoop conjecture.

A new approach to the temporal significance of house orientations in European Early Neolithic settlements.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
This paper shows that local differences in house orientation in settlements from the Early Neolithic in Central Europe reflect a regular chronological trajectory based on Bayesian calibration of 14C-series.

Tracing the External Origin of the AGN Gas Fueling Reservoir

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2018
Near-infrared observations of the active galaxy MCG–6-30-15 provide strong evidence that its molecular gas fueling reservoir is of external origin. MCG–6-30-15 has a counter-rotating core of stars within its central 400 pc and a counter-rotating disc of ...

Wind tunnel tests of stratospheric airship counter rotating propellers

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2015
Aerodynamic performance of the high-altitude propeller, especially the counter rotation effects, is experimentally studied. Influences of different configurations on a stratospheric airship, included 2-blade counter-rotating propeller (CRP), dual 2-blade

Unstable simultaneous whirl of two cylinders in a concentric double rotating cylinder system

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal
This study investigated the unstable simultaneous whirl of two cylinders in a concentric double rotating cylinder system, with both co- and counter-rotation. The axes of both cylinders were radially elastically supported independently of each other.
