Spotting a counter-rotating galaxy
Proceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2019AbstractThe presence of counter-rotating (CR) components in galaxies is not that rare but their origin is still unclear. Important clues to the formation and evolution of CR galaxies are provided by galaxy kinematics, such as the mass distribution and the shape of the gravitational potential. In order to better understand the origin and incidence of CR

AbstractThis paper is concerned mainly with that application of counter-rotating propellers referred to as “ dual-rotation ” propellers. This term is here defined to apply to a pair of oppositely-rotating propellers operating in close tandem, mounted on concentric shafts.

Counter-Rotating Savonius Wind Turbine
2020The mathematical model of a small-scale counter-rotating Savonius wind turbine is constructed and studied. Rotors are located one above the other. Their shafts are coaxial. The shaft of one Savonius rotor carries the rotor of an electric generator, and the shaft of the other carries the stator of the same generator.

A ROTATING PLASTIC DISC, such as a Frisbee, indicates high lift coefficients. To examine this phenomenon, experimental research was conducted, using a specially‐constructed rotating water tank. Test results demonstrated both lift increase and drag decrease for rotating discs compared to values for nonrotating discs.

Noise of counter-rotation propellers
9th Aeroacoustics Conference, 1984Theory is presented for noise generation of counter-rotat ion (CR) propellers with special emphasis given to the effects of acoustic and aerodynamic interference between the two rotors. New radiation formulas are given for noise caused by unsteady loading.

Corncob Harvest with Counter-Rotating Rollers
Transactions of the ASAE, 1983ABSTRACT SAMPLES of combine discharge that were collected during corn harvest were analyzed to determine the constitution of the sieve and walker discharges. Corncobs were classified on the basis of their cross-sectional shape and length. A corncob separator using counter rotating rollers for separation of cobs from husks was designed, constructed and ...

Kantowski Sachs universes with counter-rotating dust
Classical and Quantum Gravity, 2002In 1939, Einstein solved the field equations of general relativity to describe a cluster of particles moving in circular orbits about the center of the system. These Einstein clusters have been studied extensively. In a series of recent papers (see Zbl 0999.83072, Zbl 1001.83032, and Zbl 1005.83043), the author presented a solution of Einstein's ...

Topological defects from counter rotating disks
Physics Letters A, 1991Abstract A family of solutions of the Einstein equation that represents topological defects with the symmetry of a disk is exhibited. The possibility that this family may be originated from the gravitational collapse of a cloud of particles is considered.

On flow between counter-rotating cylinders
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1982Axisymmetric flows between counter-rotating cylinders of varying radius ratio are examined. The stability of these flows to non-axisymmetric disturbances is considered, and the results of these calculations are compared with experiments.
