Method for separating biological cells [PDF]
A method for separating biological cells by suspending a mixed cell population in a two-phase polymer system is described. The polymer system consists of droplet phases with different surface potentials for which the cell populations exhibit different ...

Chiral separation by enantioselective liquid–liquid extraction [PDF]
The literature on enantioselective liquid–liquid extraction (ELLE) spans more than half a century of research. Nonetheless, a comprehensive overview has not appeared during the past few decades.

Abstract Post‐harvest agricultural residues in Latin America are commonly underutilized, leading to greenhouse gas emissions and lost opportunities for bio‐based value creation. This study tests the hypothesis that decentralized, farmer‐scale pyrolysis technologies can deliver comparable agronomic benefits while exhibiting distinct techno‐economic and ...

Comparison of PSA and amine‐based absorption for syngas purification shows that PSA offers lower energy intensity, global warming potential, and minimum selling price, making it a more sustainable option. However, absorption achieves higher syngas purity. A GREENSCOPE‐based multi‐criteria assessment guides optimal process selection.

Population Changes and Emerging Challenges to Global Primary Education Provision
Abstract Global demographic changes in recent decades have sharply altered the contexts in which governments provide education. Focusing on primary education, we demonstrate, first, that recent demographic trends have been highly polarizing for education systems worldwide. Persistent expansionary pressures burden some of the least‐resourced educational

Review of centrifugal liquid-liquid chromatography using aqueous two-phase solvent (ATPS) systems: Its scale-up and prospects for the future production of high-value biologics [PDF]
The future challenges in bioprocessing include developing new downstream processes for the purification and manufacture of the protein based medicines of the future to relieve the predicted bottleneck being produced by increasingly high titres from ...

Abstract Hydrogen (H2) influences the climate by prolonging the lifetime of greenhouse gases via consuming hydroxyl radicals. Despite the ocean's crucial role in regulating atmospheric H2, its marine biogeochemical cycle is poorly constrained. To bridge this gap, our research in the Western Tropical Pacific Ocean (WTPO) revealed a north–south ...

Fluxes and distribution of dissolved iron in the eastern (sub-) tropical North Atlantic Ocean [PDF]
Aeolian dust transport from the Saharan/Sahel desert regions is considered the dominant external input of iron (Fe) to the surface waters of the eastern (sub-) tropical North Atlantic Ocean.
