Visualising superfluid turbulent counterflow
Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 2005An apparatus has been constructed to make superfluid counterflow in 4He visible. The counterflow channel is made of glass and has rectangular cross-section of height 0.01 cm, width 2 cm and length 4 cm. One of the 2 cm × 4 cm faces is silvered to allow a laser beam passing through the other face to reflect and thus traverse the fluid layer twice.

Counterflow Pulse-tube Refrigerator
2005Regenerators in standard pulse-tube refrigerators are expensive, complicated, heavy, and contribute significantly to the losses in the cooler. In this research the regenerators are avoided by using two identical GM-type pulse-tube refrigerators operating in opposite phase. The two regenerators are replaced by one counterflow heat exchanger. This system

Development of a swirling double counterflow
Physical Review E, 2011This numerical study of an axisymmetric motion of a viscous incompressible fluid in an elongated cylindrical container explains how a swirling inflow develops the global meridional circulation and two U-shaped throughflows (TFs). For moderate values of the Reynolds (Re) number, there is a single U-shaped TF: The fluid moves from the peripheral annular ...

Gradient Counterflow Electrophoresis Methods for Bioanalysis
Bioanalysis, 2010CE has evolved as one of the most efficient separation techniques for a wide range of analytes, from small molecules to large proteins. Modern microdevices facilitate integration of multiple sample-handling steps, from preparation to separation and detection, and often rely on CE for separations.

Visualization of Counterflow Flames
1992Laminar counterflow flames have been used to study a variety of combustion problems, for example extinction conditions and chemical kinetic mechanisms with a review in Ref. [1], and to provide information for flamelet models of turbulent flames [2].

Counterflow isotachophoresis in a monolithic column
Journal of Separation Science, 2014This study describes stationary counterflow isotachophoresis (ITP) in a poly(acrylamide‐co‐N,N′‐methylenebisacrylamide) monolithic column as a means for improving ITP processing capacity and reducing dispersion. The flow profile in the monolith was predicted using COMSOL's Brinkman Equation application mode, which revealed that the flow profile was ...

Round Jet in Ambient Counterflowing Stream
Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 1997We investigate the penetration and spreading of a round jet into an ambient counterflow using the planar laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) technique. The LIF images enable us to obtain the instantaneous concentration field of the penetrating jet effluent.

Automatic Counterflow Pipeline Synthesis
1998The Counterflow Pipeline (CFP) organization may be a good target for synthesis of application-specific microprocessors because it has a regular and simple structure. This paper describes early work using CFP's to improve overall application performance by tailoring a CFP to the kernel loop of an application.
