Size-dependent thermoelastic initially stressed micro-beam due to a varying temperature in the light of the modified couple stress theory

open access: yesApplied Mathematics and Mechanics, 2020
The bending of the Euler-Bernoulli micro-beam has been extensively modeled based on the modified couple stress (MCS) theory. Although many models have been incorporated into the literature, there is still room for introducing an improved model in this ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

String background fields and Riemann-Cartan geometry

open access: yes, 2010
We study classical dynamics of cylindrical membranes wrapped around the extra compact dimension of a $(D+1)$-dimensional Riemann-Cartan spacetime. The world-sheet equations and boundary conditions are obtained from the universally valid conservation ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Spinning branes in Riemann-Cartan spacetime

open access: yes, 2010
We use the conservation law of the stress-energy and spin tensors to study the motion of massive brane-like objects in Riemann-Cartan geometry. The world-sheet equations and boundary conditions are obtained in a manifestly covariant form. In the particle

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Comments on 2D dilaton gravity system with a hyperbolic dilaton potential

open access: yes, 2017
We proceed to study a (1+1)-dimensional dilaton gravity system with a hyperbolic dilaton potential. Introducing a couple of new variables leads to two copies of Liouville equations with two constraint conditions.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

On squeezed flow of couple stress nanofluid between two parallel plates

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2017
The present communication provides an analytical treatment of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) squeezing flow of couple stress nanomaterial between two parallel surfaces. Constitutive relations of couple stress fluid are used in the problem formulation.

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...
