Coupled inductor based boost DC/DC converter

2016 7th Power Electronics and Drive Systems Technologies Conference (PEDSTC), 2016
The boost dc-dc converters are used to increase the magnitude of dc voltage. The renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic and fuel cell generate low magnitudes of voltage. To solve this problem, it is necessary to use a boost dc/dc converter. In this paper, a new boost dc-dc converter by using coupled inductor is proposed.

Single-Stage Boost Inverter With Coupled Inductor

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2012
Renewable power systems as distributed generation units often experience big changes in the inverter input voltage due to fluctuations of energy resources. Often, a front-end boost converter is added to step up the dc voltage when the energy resources are at a weak point.

Microfabricated coupled inductors for integrated power converters

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2005
Abstract A microfabricated coupled inductor for low-voltage, high-current power converters is presented. The aim is to miniaturize such converters and improve their transient response using high-performance microfabricated inductors. These inductors have high power density enabled by a high-flux-density magnetic material (NiFe) and have the potential

Coupled Inductor based Non-Isolated Boost Converter

2020 International Conference on Smart Grids and Energy Systems (SGES), 2020
Smart grids use several distributed renewable energy sources. Renewable energy sources like photovoltaic modules provide a low output voltage which requires significant boosting before utilisation. Usual boost converter topologies can deliver the required gain but only when operating at extreme duty ratios.

High Step-Up Converter With Coupled-Inductor

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2005
In this study, a high step-up converter with a coupled-inductor is investigated. In the proposed strategy, a coupled inductor with a lower-voltage-rated switch is used for raising the voltage gain (whether the switch is turned on or turned off). Moreover, a passive regenerative snubber is utilized for absorbing the energy of stray inductance so that ...

PWM Inverters Using Split-Wound Coupled Inductors

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2008
The number of voltage levels available in PWM voltage source inverters can be increased by using an inverter leg with a split-wound coupled inductor and interleaved PWM switching of the upper and lower switches. The magnetizing inductance of the split-wound inductor filters the PWM-cycle instantaneous voltage differences between the upper and lower ...

Seven level asymmetric inverters with coupled inductors

2015 IEEE 13th Brazilian Power Electronics Conference and 1st Southern Power Electronics Conference (COBEP/SPEC), 2015
This paper proposes two seven level asymmetric inverter with coupled inductors that enable a reduction in the number of controlled switching devices. However, the lack of redundant states and difference in the maximum pole voltages reduce the performance of the inverters due to higher winding currents and saturation of magnetic core.

A novel coupled inductor for interleaved converters

2010 Twenty-Fifth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2010
Aiming to reduce the volume and weight further, a novel coupled inductor is proposed in this paper. The implementation approaches and the operation principles are analyzed in detail along with the comparison analysis with three-leg coupled inductor.

Coupled-Inductor Magnetics in Power Electronics

1987
Leakages are inseparably associated with magnetic circuits and are always thought of in three different negative ways: either you have them and you don't want them (transformers), or you don't have them but want them (to limit transformer short circuit currents), or you have them and want them, but you don't have them in the right amount (coupled ...

Coupled-Inductor Inversion, Rectification and Cycloconversion

1986
A new PWM approach using three state switching of negatively coupled inductors can be applied to any basic dc-to-dc converter to form single-phase dc-to-ac inverters. Current reference programming gives improvements in linearity, small-signal dynamics, and pulsed-load response. The current programming loops of the flyback and boost inverters are stable
