Backbone Heterojunction Photocatalysts for Efficient Sacrificial Hydrogen Production

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, a ‘single‐component’ organic semiconductor photocatalyst is presented in which a molecular donor is bonded to a polymer acceptor. The resultant material demonstrates exceptional photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution in aqueous triethylamine with an outstanding external quantum efficiency of 38% at 420 nm.

Observation of higher-order deterministic optical vortices from random vortex beams

open access: yesAPL Photonics
Optical vortices in coherent beams have been identified as spiral phases with intensity nulls at singularities, while in random beams, they appear as coherence vortices in correlation functions, often not matching intensity nulls. Observing deterministic

Ion‐Selective Microporous Membranes via One‐Step Copolymerization Enable High‐Performance Redox Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable one‐step copolymerization strategy is developed to produce low‐cost microporous ion exchange membranes that boost both the efficiency and lifespan of flow batteries. When combined with organic electrolytes in aqueous systems, these membranes enable safe and cheap flow battery energy storage, supporting the widespread integration of renewable

Exciting half-integer charges in a quantum point contact

open access: yes, 2006
We study a voltage-driven quantum point contact (QPC) strongly coupled to a qubit. We predict pronounced observable features in the QPC current that can be interpreted in terms of half-integer charge transfers.

Coupled 2D-Fractional Wavelet Transform

open access: yesContemporary Mathematics
We introduce a new fractional wavelet transform using the convolution for the coupled fractional Fourier transform. We derive that the fractional wavelet transform satisfies all the expected properties such as Parseval identity, inversion formula ...

Synthesis and Electronic Structure of the Fractionally Occupied Double Perovskite EuTa2O6 with Ordered Europium Vacancies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two‐dimensional electronic states are the foundation of modern semiconductor technology. Here, we report molecular‐beam epitaxy growth of fractional double perovskite, EuTa2O6. Reciprocal space mapping and transmission electron microscopy confirm a layered ordering of A‐site cations.

Physical Pictures of Transport in Heterogeneous Media: Advection-Dispersion, Random Walk and Fractional Derivative Formulations

open access: yes, 2002
The basic conceptual picture and theoretical basis for development of transport equations in porous media are examined. The general form of the governing equations is derived for conservative chemical transport in heterogeneous geological formations, for

Supraparticles Composed of Graphitic Carbon Nitride Nanoparticles and Silica‐Supported Horseradish Peroxidase as Customizable Hybrid Catalysts for Photo‐Biocatalytic Cascade Reactions in Continuous Flow

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Herein presented supraparticles combine the nanoparticulate photocatalyst graphitic carbon nitride with the enzyme horseradish peroxidase, which is immobilized on silica nanoparticles. In an optimized compatibility range, both catalysts operate effectively within the hybrid supraparticles and catalyze a cascade reaction consisting of the photocatalytic

Low-energy properties of fractional helical Luttinger liquids

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate the low-energy properties of (quasi) helical and fractional helical Luttinger liquids. In particular, we calculate the Drude peak of the optical conductivity, the density of states, as well as charge transport properties of the interacting

Inactivating SARS‐CoV‐2 Virus with MOF‐Composites as Smart Face Masks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ preparation and functionalization of MOF@Cotton fabrics as smart face masks for the immobilization of proteins and inactivation viruses, such as SARS‐CoV‐2. Abstract The significant impact of the SARS‐CoV‐2 (COVID‐19) pandemic outbreak on people's lives has highlighted the urgent need for effective personal protective equipment.
