Single‐Switch High Step‐Up Quasi‐Z‐Source DC‐DC Converter With Low Switch Voltage Stress

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering
High step‐up converters are commonly utilized to manage voltage level between the DC‐bus and low voltage input. The properties such as high‐voltage gain, continuous input current and low switch voltage stress are important for proper performance.

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Novel silicon-embedded coreless coupled inductors for high efficiency on-chip dc-dc conversion

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, novel silicon-embedded coreless coupled inductors are proposed and demonstrated for high efficiency on-chip dc-dc conversion. Two interleaved thick inductor coils are embedded in the bottom layer of the Si substrate, providing small dc ...

Non-Isolated High Step-Up DC-DC Interleaved Boost Converter Based on Coupled Inductors and Voltage Multiplier Cells

open access: yesEnergies
This work introduces a non-isolated high step-up dc-dc interleaved boost converter combining magnetic coupling and voltage multiplier cells (VMCs). The proposed topology features a transformer with two primary windings of equal turns, interconnected to ...

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

Design and Analysis of a New High Step-Up Converter Using Switched-Inductor-Capacitor Voltage Multiplier Cells for Photovoltaic Application

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society
This article proposes a new high-gain converter to attain higher output voltage without coupled inductors. The operation of the proposed converter is examined under continuous conduction mode (CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM).

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

An Improved Boost Converter with Coupled Inductors and Buck-boost Type of Active-Clamp

open access: yes, 2014
[[abstract]]This paper proposes an improved boost converter with coupled inductors and buck-boost type of active-clamp feature, PWM control and zero-voltage switching in both main and auxiliary switches. In the converter, the active-clamp circuit is used
