Cross‐talk reduction in metamaterial and non‐uniform transmission lines

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation
The electromagnetic compatibility analysis of RF circuitry is essential due to the adverse effects on sensitive components. Two metamaterial unit cells with slow‐wave properties are presented for cross‐talk reduction in transmission lines. The analytical

Unequal Wilkinson Power Divider Using Asymmetric Microstrip Parallel Coupled Lines [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Procedures in Electrical Technology, 2012
An effective method is introduced to overcome the narrow strip width in unequal Wilkinson power divider with high dividing ratio. In the proposed Wilkinson power divider, the separated microstrip lines are replaced by a uniform asymmetrical microstrip ...

Off-design considerations through the properties of some pressure-ratio line of radial inflow turbines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Radial turbines are commonly used in applications involving operation through severe off-design conditions. The emergence of variable-geometry systems leads to the distinction between two off-design concepts: operational and geometric off-designs.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Iterative synthesis method for high‐directivity symmetrical stepped‐impedance microstrip parallel‐line coupler

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation
Traditional quarter‐wavelength parallel‐line couplers (QWPLC) in microstrip form suffer heavily in low directivity because of unbalanced even‐mode and odd‐mode phase velocities.

Marker-assisted backcrossing for introgression of the saltol locus conferring salt stress tolerance in rice. [PE0856] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Soil salinization represents a threat for rice cultivation. The H2020 project NEURICE (New Commercial EUropean Rice) aimed at identifying and introducing genetic variation for salt tolerance in European rice germplasm, mainly by exploiting the positive ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Calculation of Distance Protection Settings in Mutually Coupled Transmission Lines: A Comparative Analysis

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
Protection of mutually coupled transmission lines poses special challenges to protection engineers, since the general principles outlining the expected performance of the protection elements are based on simplified versions of the issues affecting them ...

Vortex dynamics in layered superconductors with correlated defects: influence of interlayer coupling

open access: yes, 2001
We report a detailed study of the vortex dynamics and vortex phase diagrams of two amorphous Ta_0.3Ge_0.7/Ge multilayered films with intrinsic coplanar defects, but different interlayer coupling.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
