Forcing, damping and detuning for single and coupled Van der Pol oscillators
We use Melnikov function techniques together with geometric methods of bifurcation theory to study the interactions of forcing, damping and detuning on resonant periodic orbits for single and coupled forced Van Der Pol oscillators. For a coupled pair the

Transmitted resonance in a coupled system
When two systems are coupled, one can play the role of the driver, and the other can be the driven or response system. In this scenario, the driver system can behave as an external forcing. Thus, we study its interaction when a periodic forcing drives the driver system.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Ensemble modeling of the coupled carbon cycle-climate system
The overarching theme of this thesis is the impact of anthropogenic carbon emissions on the coupled carbon cycle-climate system. This topic is connected to three specific research questions: (i) the role of internal unforced variability, natural forced ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Sensitivity analysis for HJB equations with an application to a coupled backward-forward system
In this paper, we analyse the dependence of the solution of Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations on a functional parameter. This sensitivity analysis not only has the interest on its own, but also is important for the mean field games methodology, namely for

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.
