Dynamics of coupled haptic systems

2015 IEEE World Haptics Conference (WHC), 2015
The sampled-data nature and time delays induce complex dynamic behaviours in haptic systems which makes the stable, high performance force feedback challenging. Physiological factors, such as reflex delay, and the variable impedance of the human operator further complicate the modeling and analysis of these systems.

Coupled Human and Natural Systems

AMBIO: A Journal of the Human Environment, 2007
Humans have continuously interacted with natural systems, resulting in the formation and development of coupled human and natural systems (CHANS). Recent studies reveal the complexity of organizational, spatial, and temporal couplings of CHANS. These couplings have evolved from direct to more indirect interactions, from adjacent to more distant ...

LOCOMOTION OF FRICTION COUPLED SYSTEMS

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2007
Abstract This note provides the general set-up and solution method for a friction-coupled system (the ‘body’) moving in the landscape. This separates the shape (or configuration) space from the state space. The quotient space is the space where the motion of the body can be envisioned as a point mass.

COUPLING INTERACTING PARTICLE SYSTEMS

Reviews in Mathematical Physics, 1993
We consider random processes (probabilistic cellular automata or interacting particle systems) defined through the interaction of an infinite number of components. We show how coupling arguments yield simple yet quite general ergodicity theorems. The relation between discrete time and continuous time versions is analyzed via similar techniques and the

A Magnetically Coupled Multimicroelectrode System

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 1983
A multimicroelectrode system is described in which the microelectrodes are individually magnetized and coupled to one another by the magnetic force acting on each microelectrode. This arrangement increases the mechanical strength of the fine microelectrodes, and also restricts the bending of each microelectrode wire.

Quantitative analysis of system coupling

2011 Eighth International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery (FSKD), 2011
To solve the problem that it is difficult to calculate system coupling in the field of systems science and software engineering, this article discussed quantitative analysis of system coupling. It is difficult to calculate system coupling in the field of system science and software engineering.

Coupled Neural P Systems

IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, 2019
Inspired by Eckhorn's neuron model that emulates a mammal's visual cortex, this paper proposes a new kind of neural-like P system, called a coupled neural P (CNP) system. The CNP system consists of some coupled neurons, each with three components: receptive field, modulation, and output module.

A Systemic Approach to Couple Therapy

Family Process, 1986
This article presents a model of couple therapy based on the reciprocal double bind. Two cases are presented to illustrate the model, and different modes of intervention are described. This paper stresses that therapy has more to do with the intersection of the maps of the world of members of a system than it has with a search for some individual or ...

Developments in Multirating for Coupled Systems

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 2001
AbstractIn technologically computer‐aided design, the demand for a refined modelling yields the numerical simulation of coupled systems. Often the dynamics of these systems can be described as initial value problems of ordinary differential equations, which are characterised by largely varying time constants.
