We present a model of identical coupled two-state stochastic units each of which in isolation is governed by a fixed refractory period. The nonlinear coupling between units directly affects the refractory period, which now depends on the global state of ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Synthesis of chiral germanium center enabled by poly-deborylative alkylation and desymmetrization
Chiral germanium centers are historically undervalued due to their extremely limited synthetic accessibility. Although germanium shares similar chemical properties with silicon, synthesizing chiral germanium centers proves significantly more challenging.

Stability of mud-water interface under long surface waves
Fluid mud often exists in coastal areas with an interface separating it from its upper water layer. When a surface wave propagates over a bed covered with water and fluid mud, it will cause an interfacial wave of the mud-water interface, which damps the ...

Effective universality in quantum gravity
We investigate the asymptotic safety scenario for a scalar-gravity system. This system contains two avatars of the dynamical Newton coupling, a gravitational self-coupling and a scalar-graviton coupling.

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

We study the dynamical evolution of a scalar field coupling to Einstein's tensor in the background of Reissner-Nordstr\"{o}m black hole. Our results show that the the coupling constant $\eta$ imprints in the wave dynamics of a scalar perturbation. In the

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
