Sugarcane Distribution Simulation and Climate Change Impact Analysis in China

open access: yesAgriculture
Sugarcane is an important economic crop in China, and its yield is significantly affected by climate change. With climate change leading to significant shifts in environmental conditions, the suitable cultivation zones for the crop are expected to change,

Collapse of spin-orbit coupled Bose-Einstein condensates

open access: yes, 2015
A finite-size quasi two-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate collapses if the attraction between atoms is sufficiently strong. Here we present a theory of collapse for condensates with the interatomic attraction and spin-orbit coupling.

Vibronic interactions in the visible and near-infrared spectra of C60− anions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Electron-phonon coupling is an important factor in understanding many properties of the C60 fullerides. However, there has been little success in quantifying the strength of the vibronic coupling in C60 ions, with considerable disagreement between ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

High energy scattering in the saturation regime including running coupling and rare fluctuation effects

open access: yes, 2008
The analytic result for the $S$-matrix in the saturation regime including the running coupling is obtained. To get this result we solve the Balitsky and Kovchegov-Weigert evolution equations in the saturation regime, which include running coupling ...

Direct Josephson coupling between superconducting flux qubits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We have demonstrated strong antiferromagnetic coupling between two three-junction flux qubits based on a shared Josephson junction, and therefore not limited by the small inductances of the qubit loops.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
