Coupled length scales in eroding landscapes [PDF]
We report results from an empirical study of the anisotropic structure of eroding landscapes. By constructing a novel correlation function, we show quantitatively that small-scale channel-like features of landscapes are coupled to the large-scale structure of drainage basins. We show additionally that this two-scale interaction is scale-dependent.

The resonance characteristics of the micro-coil resonator(MCR) with different turns and coupling conditions are presented, which show that the effective length of the MCR with small coupling coefficient at primary resonant is independent of the turns ...

Running coupling with minimal length [PDF]
In models with large additional dimensions, the GUT scale can be lowered to values accessible by future colliders. Due to modification of the loop corrections from particles propagating into the extra dimensions, the logarithmic running of the couplings of the Standard Model is turned into a power law.

3D coupling approach between discrete and continuum models for dynamic simulations (DEM–CNEM) [PDF]
The coupling between two dissimilar numerical methods presents a major challenge, especially in case of discrete–continuum coupling. The Arlequin approach provides a flexible framework and presents several advantages in comparison to alternative ...

Nondestructive characterization of fiber couplers by a local perturbation method [PDF]
A technique for the nondestructive characterization of fiber couplers is demonstrated. A CO2 laser beam is scanned along the coupler length inducing a local perturbation to the coupler eigenmodes.

Spatially coupled protograph (SC-P) low-density parity-check codes can achieve excellent performance and simple implementation when the coupling length is sufficiently large. However, in the case of small coupling lengths, terminated SC-P (TE-SC-P) codes
