Convection-pulsation coupling [PDF]
We present in details a time-dependent convection treatment in the frame of the Mixing-Length Theory (MLT). Following the original ideas by Unno (1967, PASJ, 19, 140), this theory has been developed by Gabriel et al. (1974, Bull. Ac. Roy. Belgique, Classe des Sciences, 60, 866) and Gabriel (1996, Bull. Astron. Soc. India, 24, 233).

Induced spin-orbit coupling in silicon thin films by bismuth doping
We demonstrate an enhancement of the spin-orbit coupling in silicon (Si) thin films by doping with bismuth (Bi), a heavy metal, using ion implantation.

Interaction between negative and positive index medium waveguides
The coupling between negative and positive index medium waveguides is investigated theoretically in this paper. A coupled mode theory is developed for such a waveguide system and its validity is verified.

A novel directional coupler utilizing a left-handed material
A novel directional coupler with a left-handed material (LHM) layer between two single-mode waveguides of usual material is introduced. The coupling system is analyzed with the supermode theory.

Thermal Sensitivity of a Microoptoelectromechanical Evanescent-Coupling-Based Accelerometer
This treatise studies the thermal sensitivity of the mechanical and optical transmission coefficients of a microoptoelectromechanical (MOEM) accelerometer based on evanescent coupling in a temperature range from minus 40 to plus 125 °C.

Coherence length in superconductors from weak to strong coupling
We study the evolution of the superconducting coherence length $\xi_0$ from weak to strong coupling, both within a s-wave and a d-wave lattice model. We show that the identification of $\xi_0$ with the Cooper-pair size $\xi_{pair}$ in the weak-coupling ...

ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.

Analysis of Coupling Losses for All-Fiber Integration of Subwavelength Core Hybrid Optical Fibers
Coupling losses for all-fiber integration of subwavelength core hybrid optical fibers have been first analyzed and optimized in detail. We have taken into account the effects of mode size, mode shape, effective refractive index, tapering beat length ...
