Structure-Guided Optimization of Small-Molecule Folate Uptake Inhibitors Targeting the Energy-Coupling Factor Transporters [PDF]
Here, we report on a potent class of substituted ureidothiophenes targeting energy-coupling factor (ECF) transporters, an unexplored target, which is not addressed by any antibiotic on the market. Since the ECF module is crucial for the vitamin transport

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Quality criterion and errors of corrected negative SEA loss factors
Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) is a well-known numerical method for predicting vibroacoustic phenomena in complex systems. The accuracy of SEA models relies on the precise determination of coupling loss factors and damping loss factors.

Coupling between quantum emitters (QEs) has been a topic extensively explored in recent years. Theoretical models based on the Lindblad master equation and mapping to cascaded quantum system has shed light to the chiral coupling phenomena from the aspect

Finite element modeling for predicting sound insulation of fixed windows in a laboratory environment
This paper presents discussion of the prediction capability of three numerical models using finite element method for predicting the sound reduction index (SRI) of fixed windows having different dimensions in a laboratory environment. The three numerical

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Monte Carlo model of the uncertainty of SEA loss factors [PDF]
Finite Element Methods are widely used to model vibro-acoustic systems, but as the modal density becomes higher this type of model becomes inaccurate and impractical.

Contra-directional coupling into slotted photonic crystals for spectrometric applications [PDF]
We propose and demonstrate the concept of a contra-directional coupler between a W1 and a slotted photonic crystal waveguide. The bandwidth and operating wavelength of such a coupler can be controlled via its geometrical parameters, and power transfer is

Despite the fact that there is an existing body of literature addressing the computation of Coupling Loss Factors (CLFs) via the Finite Element Method (FEM), no publications have sufficiently taken into account real structural joints in their approach ...
