Impact of Moderate Heat, Carvacrol, and Thymol Treatments on the Viability, Injury, and Stress Response of Listeria monocytogenes. [PDF]

open access: yesBiomed Res Int, 2015
The microbial safety and stability of minimally processed foods are based on the application of combined preservative factors. Since microorganisms are able to develop adaptive networks to survive under conditions of stress, food safety may be affected, and therefore understanding of stress adaptive mechanisms plays a key role in designing safe food ...

Berries and bullets: influence of food and mortality risk on grizzly bears in British Columbia Bayas y balas: influencia de la alimentación y el riesgo de mortalidad en los osos grizzly en la Columbia Británica Des baies et des balles: influence de l'alimentation et risques de mortalité chez les ours grizzlys de la Colombie‐Britannique

open access: yesWildlife Monographs, Volume 213, Issue 1, November 2023., 2023
We developed a spatialized surface for the primary food of grizzly bears in southeast British Columbia. After using this huckleberry patch layer to model habitat selection, fitness, and density, in a bottom‐up top‐down paradigm, we found that huckleberry patches near forestry roads contribute very little to fitness and density.

Is the crop evapotranspiration rate a good surrogate for the recommended irrigation rate?

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 72, Issue 4, Page 934-942, October 2023., 2023
Abstract Numerous methodologies and technologies of varying levels of sophistication for irrigation rate determination have been developed over the years to address limited irrigation water availability and optimize water productivity. Crop evapotranspiration is currently evaluated mostly according to the FAO56 approach, which has been augmented in ...

Dynamic balancing of risks and rewards in a large herbivore: Further extending predator–prey concepts to road ecology

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 92, Issue 10, Page 1954-1965, October 2023., 2023
The authors tested whether animals dynamically balance risks and rewards in the context of road crossings. Using extensive field‐based and GPS data from elk in Yoho National Park, the authors demonstrate that animals can modulate their selection for foraging resources with the risks they experience relative to roads while travelling.

Floral composition and diversity of the lagos coastal environment, South‐Western, Nigeria

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Ecology, Volume 61, Issue 1, Page 37-47, March 2023., 2023
Abstract The present study investigates the floral diversity of the Lagos coastal environments by sampling 21 points using the quadrat method. The study revealed two major aquatic ecosystem types (mangrove and freshwater swamp) and recorded 125 species belonging to 108 genera and 49 families.

Chimpanzees as ecosystem service providers: Seed dispersal of an economically important plant resource

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 54, Issue 3, Page 656-669, May 2022., 2022
Western chimpanzees effectively disperse the seeds of Saba senegalensis, an important uncultivated commodity and food resource for people in Senegal. They promote germination success of ditto seeds through a beneficial gut treatment of seeds and by dispersing seeds disproportionately to habitats that are conducive to seed germination.

Benefits of increased cover crop diversity for predators and biological pest control depend on the landscape context

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 2, Issue 3, July–September 2021., 2021
Increasing the diversity of cover crops in vineyards enhanced the abundance of natural enemies by 140% overall. Predation rates of an important moth pest also increased, particularly in simple landscapes (from 20 to 50% of semi‐natural habitats in a 1 km radius around each field).

Les changements d’occupation des sols dans la Béqaa Ouest (Liban) : le rôle des actions anthropiques

open access: yesCahiers Agricultures, 2019

open access: yesSciences, Eaux & Territoires, 2022

open access: yesProceedings of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences, 2021
Le comblement et l'eutrophisation des retenues d'eau constituent des contraintes majeures pour les usages qu'en font les populations riveraines. L'étude bathymétrique a révélé une diminution moyenne de 0,116 m/an de la profondeur sur sept (07) ans.
