Can Elastomers Combine Stiffness, Toughness and Fatigue Resistance?

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review studies how the molecular and macroscopic architecture of elastomers influence their mechanical properties including: stiffness, stretchability, toughness, fatigue resistance, and damping behavior. By linking the structure to performance, it proposes design principles for advanced elastomeric systems that combine mechanical properties ...

Confinement‐Induced Donnan Potential Enables Sealed Hydrovoltaic Power From Microliter Water

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrathin MXene/cellulose nanofiber (CNF) nanochannel‐based hydrovoltaic generator produces sustained direct current (DC) from a single microliter droplet under sealed operation. Asymmetric nanochannel confinement establishes a persistent ion gradient and a confinement‐induced Donnan potential, harvesting the interfacial free energy released upon ...

β-Amino amide based covalent adaptable networks with high dimensional stability

open access: yes
Herein, we report a scalable synthesis of catalyst-free, covalent adaptable networks (CANs) based on beta-amino amides as dynamic linkages. Rheological analysis of their dynamic behaviour shows a remarkably high activation energy of around 300 kJ mol(-1).
