A light‐responsive liquid crystal (LC) polymer network integrating molecular rotary motors and photothermal converters enables the decoupling of photochemical and photothermal effects. Selective wavelength activation allows orthogonal control over persistent shape encoding and fast reversible motion, enabling programmable soft robots capable of complex

Can Elastomers Combine Stiffness, Toughness and Fatigue Resistance?
This review studies how the molecular and macroscopic architecture of elastomers influence their mechanical properties including: stiffness, stretchability, toughness, fatigue resistance, and damping behavior. By linking the structure to performance, it proposes design principles for advanced elastomeric systems that combine mechanical properties ...

Hybrid Amyloid–Boron Nitride Aerogels for Lightweight Sound Insulation
Amyloid fibrils template the mild formation of boron nitride–rich hybrid aerogels with hierarchical porosity, enhanced BN‐like ordering, and fibril‐reinforced mechanics. These ultralight materials combine thermal stability with strong sound absorption and transmission loss, offering a sustainable bio‐assisted route toward lightweight acoustic shields ...

Natural Fragment Bond Orbital Method for Inter-Fragment Covalent Interaction Analysis
We report the natural fragment bond orbital (NFBO) method for inter-fragment covalent interaction analysis, as an extension to the well-known natural bond orbital method. NFBOs together with their corresponding natural fragment hybrid orbitals (NFHOs) can be used to highlight the local covalent bonding and anti-bonding among fragments out of the ...

True Closed‐Loop Recyclable Hydrogels Enabled by Imine Boronic Ester Crosslinking
Subtle molecular differences in imine boronic ester crosslinkers profoundly influence hydrogel properties. 2‐formylphenylboronic acid crosslinkers form previously undisclosed 3‐amino‐benzoxaborole heterocycles, enhancing elasticity despite lower crosslinking density compared to their 4‐formylphenylboronic acid counterparts.

Gold Nanoparticles as a Possible Tool to Untangle Some Structural Features of the Gluten Network
Aqueous semolina suspensions were reacted with spherical gold nanoparticles (AuNPs, nominal diameter, 20 nm) to assess the accessibility of cysteine thiols in durum wheat proteins, focusing on network-forming gluten proteins. Unlike small thiol reagents,

High‐Performance Bio‐Glue From the Berries of a Parasitic Plant
We report a fully bio‐based adhesive derived primarily from a (poly)saccharide extract obtained from the berries of the hemi‐parasitic plant mistletoe (Viscum album), supplemented with tannic and malic acid without any further chemical functionalization.
