Performance of some estimators for the multicollinear logistic regression model: theory, simulation, and applications

open access: yesResearch in Statistics
This article proposes some new estimators, namely Stein’s estimators for ridge regression and Kibria and Lukman estimator and compares their performance with some existing estimators, namely maximum likelihood estimator (MLE), ridge regression estimator,

Linearizing and Forecasting: A Reservoir Computing Route to Digital Twins of the Brain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new approach uses simple neural networks to create digital twins of brain activity, capturing how different patterns unfold over time. The method generates and recovers key dynamics even from noisy data. When applied to fMRI, it predicts brain signals and reveals distinctive activity patterns across regions and individuals, opening possibilities for ...

Local quadratic spectral and covariance matrix estimation

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis
The problem of estimating the spectral density matrix of a multi‐variate time series is revisited with special focus on the frequencies and . Recognizing that the entries of the spectral density matrix at these two boundary points are real‐valued, we propose a new estimator constructed from a local polynomial regression of the real portion of the ...

Discovery of an Adaptive Neuroimmune Response Driving Itch and Fast Tick Removal with Implications for Preventing Pathogen Transmission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Itch‐induced tick removal (IITR): An acquired neuroimmune mechanism, itch‐induced tick removal, develops after repeated tick exposure, mobilizing T cells and macrophages at the tick bite site to trigger a rapid scratching response that facilitates timely tick removal within a critical window that preces the transmission of many tick‐borne pathogens ...

4‐Hydroxybenzyl Alcohol Mitigates Hyperlipidemia‐Associated Depression by Inhibiting Neuroinflammation via the NKIRAS2/NF‐κB Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
4‐HBA upregulates NKIRAS2 levels, inhibiting the activation of the NF‐κB pathway and subsequently reducing the levels of neuroinflammatory markers. This modulation helps restore normal mood and behavior in hyperlipidemic conditions, providing a potential therapeutic strategy for managing hyperlipidemia‐associated depression.

HOTELLING'S T2 CONTROL CHARTS BASED ON ROBUST ESTIMATORS

open access: yesDyna, 2010
Under the presence of multivariate outliers, in a Phase I analysis of historical set of data, the T 2 control chart based on the usual sample mean vector and sample variance covariance matrix performs poorly.

Optimal estimators in biadditive models and their families

open access: yesFrontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics
Biadditive regression models are linear models with an additive structure for their covariance matrix. We introduce commutative conditions and derive optimal estimators, namely Best Linear Unbiased Estimators (BLUE) and Best Quadratic Unbiased Estimators

AI‐Enhanced Vibrational Capsule for Minimally Invasive Detection of Abnormal Bowel Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A fully integrated vibration‐assisted capsule is presented for the minimally invasive detection of bowel lesions. The capsule incorporates a wireless sensor and an eccentric motor to probe tissue mechanics in situ. By coupling triaxial vibration signals with AI‐based classification and analytical modeling, the system enables early, non‐visual ...

Cognitive Trajectories from Preclinical Alzheimer's Disease to Dementia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A continuous, multi‐domain characterization of cognitive decline across the Alzheimer's disease spectrum identifies when individual cognitive measures become abnormal. Episodic memory declines first, followed by executive function, language, processing speed, and visuospatial abilities, supporting improved clinical interpretation and optimized endpoint

On the estimation of covariance matrices using panel data artificial regressions [PDF]

open access: yes
The use of artificial regressions to compute the variance of the difference of pairs of panel data estimators that cannot be ranked in terms of efficiency is considered.
