Covariant Lyapunov vectors [PDF]
The recent years have witnessed a growing interest for covariant Lyapunov vectors (CLVs) which span local intrinsic directions in the phase space of chaotic systems. Here we review the basic results of ergodic theory, with a specific reference to the implications of Oseledets' theorem for the properties of the CLVs.

Fairness Violations and Mitigation under Covariate Shift
We study the problem of learning fair prediction models for unseen test sets distributed differently from the train set. Stability against changes in data distribution is an important mandate for responsible deployment of models.

To Adjust or Not to Adjust? Sensitivity Analysis of M-Bias and Butterfly-Bias
“M-Bias,” as it is called in the epidemiologic literature, is the bias introduced by conditioning on a pretreatment covariate due to a particular “M-Structure” between two latent factors, an observed treatment, an outcome, and a “collider.” This ...

Background Smoker's paradox has been observed with several vascular disorders, yet there are limited data in patients with acute heart failure (HF). We examined the effects of smoking in patients with acute HF using data from a large multicenter registry.

The genomics era has brought useful tools to dissect the genetic architecture of complex traits. Here we propose a multivariate reaction norm model (MRNM) to tackle genotype–covariate (G–C) correlation and interaction problems.

Let $ $ be a commutative semigroup with identity $e$ and let $ $ be a compact subset in the pointwise convergence topology of the space $ '$ of all non-zero multiplicative functions on $ .$ Given a continuous function $F: \to \mathbb C$ and a complex regular Borel measure $ $ on $ $ such that $ ( ) \not = 0.$ It is shown that $$ ( ) \int_

Propensity score methods are increasingly being used to estimate the effects of treatments and exposures when using observational data. The propensity score was initially developed for use with binary exposures (e.g., active treatment vs. control).

Understanding covariate shift in model performance [version 3; referees: 2 approved]
Three (3) different methods (logistic regression, covariate shift and k-NN) were applied to five (5) internal datasets and one (1) external, publically available dataset where covariate shift existed.
