The ball-covering property of von Neumann algebras and noncommutative symmetric spaces [PDF]
We fully characterize those von Neumann algebras having the ball-covering property. We also study the ball-covering property of noncommutative symmetric spaces. In particular, we provide a number of new examples of non-separable (commutative and noncommutative) Banach spaces having the ball-covering property.

Hirzebruch–Kummer covers of algebraic surfaces [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to show that using some natural curve arrangements in algebraic surfaces and Hirzebruch-Kummer covers one cannot construct new examples of ball-quotients, i.e., minimal smooth complex projective surfaces of general type satisfying equality in the Bogomolov-Miyaoka-Yau inequality.

Full‐order observer design for quadratic port‐controlled Hamiltonian systems
Abstract The full‐order observer design problem for a particular class of port‐controlled Hamiltonian systems is approached in this paper. The proposed full‐order observer scheme belongs to the structure preserving class of dynamic estimators as it preserves the natural stability properties of the approached class of systems that are useful for the ...

Benchmarking and performance enhancement framework for multi-staging object-oriented languages
This paper focuses on verifying the readiness, feasibility, generality and usefulness of multi-staging programming in software applications. We present a benchmark designed to evaluate the performance gain of different multi-staging programming (MSP ...

Noncommutative Coverings of Quantum Tori [PDF]
We introduce a framework for coverings of noncommutative spaces. Moreover, we study noncommutative coverings of irrational quantum tori and characterize all such coverings that are connected in a reasonable sense.

Abstract The German Research Foundation has established the priority program SPP 100+. Its subject is monitoring bridge structures in civil engineering. The data‐driven methods cluster deals with the use of measurements and their special global and local analysis methods, which complement each other in an overall multi‐scale concept in order to realize

On metabelian galois coverings of complex algebraic varieties [PDF]
Let $f:X\to Y$ be a finite ramified Galois covering of algebraic varieties defined over the complex numbers. In this paper, we prove some structure theorems for such coverings in the case that the non-abelian Galois group of the cover is metabelian (in particular metacyclic).

In the present paper we consider the use of generalized Pauli's theorem to prove the theorem about double cover of orthogonal groups by spin groups. We prove theorems about double cover of orthochronous, othochorous, special and special orthochronous ...

Local structure of abelian covers [PDF]
We study normal finite abelian covers of smooth varieties. In particular we establish combinatorial conditions so that a normal finite abelian cover of a smooth variety is Gorenstein or locally complete intersection.
