Weeds and crop yields under conservation tillage in organic farming. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Conservation tillage in conventional agriculture tends to make the cropping systems more dependent on herbicides. Organic farming principles could solve this problem. However, direct drilling under a cover crop in organic farming remains difficult.

Reduction of Oxide Inclusions During the High‐Frequency Welding of Steel via a Nonthermal Ar/H2 Plasma Jet

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

Cover Crops and Nitrogen Fertilization in Maize on the Productive Performance of Crop [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology
The use of conservation practices for sustainable agriculture production has grown in the last decades, mainly due to the no-tillage and the cover crops.

Impact of Cover Crops on Insect Community Dynamics in Organic Farming

open access: yesAgriculture, 2020
Manipulating cover crops as an integrated pest management strategy has recently gained popularity in both traditional and organic agroecosystems. However, little information is available for producers to make informed decisions about cover crop selection,

Cover Crop Planting Date x Seeding Rate Trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
When corn silage is harvested in the fall, the entire plant is removed, leaving the soil exposed through the winter. Many farmers have started to plant cover crops following corn harvest because of the multitude of benefits cover cropping brings to soil ...

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Analyzing Electronic Excitations and Exciton Binding Energies in Y6 Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The Y6 molecule is used for increasing the efficiency of organic solar cells. The exciton binding energy is calculated for ensembles of Y6 molecules that are representative of the typically used films. The calculations show that the excitons typically spread out over many molecules.

Detection and Mapping of Cover Crops Using Sentinel-1 SAR Remote Sensing Data

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Cover crops are intermediary crops planted in between two main cash crops. They play a role in limiting nitrate leaching into groundwater. Currently, there is no database pertaining to cover crops despite their importance. The development period of cover

Is allelopathy from winter cover crops affecting row crops?

open access: yesAgricultural & Environmental Letters, 2020
Cover crops (CC) have been explored in corn (Zea mays L.), cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.), soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.], and wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) systems for their allelopathic potential to control weeds.
