Biodiversity–food trade‐offs when agricultural land is spared from production

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, Volume 108, Issue 1, Page 254-284, January 2026.
Abstract Biodiversity conservation in agricultural landscapes, the world's predominant land use, could involve sparing, or setting aside, agricultural land from production, implying biodiversity–food trade‐offs. Employing bird species and agricultural data in two panel data sets, we evaluate the extent of set‐aside's trade‐offs in England between 1992 ...

Phylogenomics and the evolution of larval feeding habits in the blow flies (Diptera: Calliphoridae)

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 1, January‐March 2026.
Phylogenomic data from anchored hybrid enrichment provide a new phylogeny of Calliphoridae that delimits the family and confirms division into eight monophyletic subfamilies. Fossil‐calibrated divergence times place the origin of Calliphoridae in the mid‐Eocene (ca. 41 Mya) along with other rapidly radiating families of oestroid Diptera. Reconstruction

Tropical Moist Heat Extremes on Small Scales Are Not Well Constrained by Reanalysis‐Derived Quasi‐Equilibrium Relationships

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 24, 28 December 2025.
Abstract Environmental moist heat is a measure of the ability for humans to cool by evaporation. It is commonly quantified as “wet‐bulb temperature.” Extreme moist heat acts as an upper limit to human survivability. In the tropics, maximum moist heat in models is constrained via convective stability by the weak temperature gradient approximation ...

Self‐Regulating Feedback Between Field Line Curvature Scattering, Ring Current Pressure, and Magnetic Configuration

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 23, 16 December 2025.
Abstract We incorporate field line curvature (FLC) scattering into a kinetic ring current model two‐way coupled with a global magnetospheric MHD model to investigate its role in SYM‐H prediction and global magnetospheric dynamics. FLC scattering reduces plasma pressure in regions where the ion gyroradius is comparable to the local FLC radius.
