Fructose‐Based Single‐Chain Polymer Nanoparticles for GLUT1–Mediated Delivery: Impact of Polymer Design on Uptake and In Vivo Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐chain nanoparticles have been proposed as drug delivery carriers, but adding a tail can significantly enhance their performance. This was demonstrated using a tadpole‐like structure comprising a head prepared from a UV‐crosslinked fructose‐based glycopolymer capable of targeting GLUT receptors, combined with a PEG‐based tail. Compared with other

CPP–PEG‐Guided Surface Engineering of Mitochondria Enables Efficient Cellular Uptake and Respiratory Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
PEG‐guided mitochondrial surface engineering supports structural stabilization and controlled presentation of cell‐penetrating peptides. CPP–PEG‐modified mitochondria exhibit enhanced cellular uptake and uptake‐associated respiratory modulation, providing a proof‐of‐concept framework for modular organelle engineering and future bioenergetic modulation ...

A Box-Behnken experimental design for microwave assisted extraction optimization of pectin from citron peel [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Food and Bioprocess Engineering, 2018
Microwave assisted extraction technique was employed to extract pectin from citron peel. Box-Behnken design was applied to investigate the influence of irradiation time, microwave power and pH on the yield and DE of pectin. The finding indicated that the

Cellular Clearance and Biological Activity of Calciprotein Particles Depend on Their Maturation State and Crystallinity

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Background: The liver-derived plasma protein fetuin-A is a systemic inhibitor of ectopic calcification. Fetuin-A stabilizes saturated mineral solutions by forming colloidal protein-mineral complexes called calciprotein particles (CPP).

Coaxial Melt Electrowriting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Coaxial melt electrowriting is established to produce dual‐property microfibers with diameters spanning 1.6–29.2 µm. Stable coaxial laminar flow is preserved under electrohydrodynamic thinning, enabling controlled binary and gradient material switching within individual continuous fibers.

A Brain‐Wide Atlas of Astrocytic Oxytocin Receptors Reveals a Glial Basis for Nucleus Accumbens Modulation of Affiliative Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The cellular actors of oxytocin signaling are under intense scrutiny. A brain‐wide anatomical and functional analysis in mice and rats reveals widespread expression of oxytocin receptors in astrocytes. These receptors are functionally active and, in the nucleus accumbens, selectively regulate male social affiliation.
