Studies of CR-39 etch rates

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2002
Abstract A series of chemical etching experiments have been carried out on CR-39 detectors irradiated with fission fragments of 252 Cf to study the bulk and track etching characteristics. Experimental data has been analyzed to find out important track etch parameters.

Computer simulation of polymerizing CR-39

International Journal of Radiation Applications and Instrumentation. Part D. Nuclear Tracks and Radiation Measurements, 1986
Abstract A computer program which models the free radical addition polymerization of a tetrafunctional monomer on a 3-D lattice is presented. The actual polymerization of CR-39 is complex, with the importance of the competing reactions changing with the extent of reaction, the initial peroxide initiator concentration and the temperature.

Neutron sensitivity of CR-39 SSNTD

International Journal of Radiation Applications and Instrumentation. Part D. Nuclear Tracks and Radiation Measurements, 1991
Abstract The SSNTD material CR-39 is successful used in different fields of research on account of its low registration threshold, good optical and mechanical parameters. It is produced by several firms in various quality. For application of CR-39 in neutron induced autoradiography a good lateral homogeneity and low neutron induced background track ...

Optimization of dopants in CR-39

Nuclear Tracks and Radiation Measurements, 1993
Abstract CR-39 plastic nuclear track detectors have been cast with noadditive and with Methyl methacrylate, Diallyl phthalate, Dibulyl phthalate and Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate. After irradiated with 5.15 MeV alpha particles, the responses of the detectors were found to be significantly different for each kind of additive.

CR-39 radon detector

Nuclear Tracks and Radiation Measurements, 1993
Abstract This paper presents an easy method of measuring radon-222 accumulation concentration in air. CR-39 chips manufactured by Pershore Mouldings LTD. of England and Karlsruhe diffusion chambers are used for radon accumulation detectors. After exposure, the CR-39 chips are etched in 6.25N NaOH at 80 °C for four hours.

Some more new etchants for CR-39 detector

Radiation Measurements, 2005
Recently, several new etchants have been reported for CR-39 detector (Molten Ba(OH)2. 8H2O as an etchant for CR-39 detector, Radiat. Meas. 37 (2003) 205; Discovery of new etchants for CR-39 detector, Radiat. Meas. (2004)). We have made further progress in this direction and have unveiled two more new etchants which are reported in this article.

Discovery of new etchants for CR-39 detector

Radiation Measurements, 2005
After reporting the excellent etching properties of molten Ba(OH)2 8H2O as an etchant, we now report some more new and efficient etchants for CR-39 detector. CR-39 detectors were irradiated with fission fragments and alpha particles with a thin 252Cf source.

Measurement of mechanical warpage in CR-39 lenses

Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics, 1997
The warpage of CR-39 ophthalmic spherical lenses of a variety of powers and compressed in the radial direction is measured as a function of the applied tangential force. The lenses are cut with circular shape and then mounted on a frame specially designed to measure the tangential force by means of a calibrated coil spring.

Testing CR-39 for Surface Alpha Contamination Monitoring

Health Physics, 1993
Alpha-track detectors made of CR-39 plastic were successfully tested in monitoring surface alpha contamination in decontamination and decommissioning. The alpha registration efficiency was about 70%. At 3.7 Bq cm-2 a 10:1 signal-to-noise response was obtained after a 100-min exposure.

Calibration of CR-39-based thoron progeny device

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2014
Radon isotopes and their progenies have proven significant role in respiratory tumour formation. In most cases, the radiological effect of one of the radon isotopes (thoron) and its progenies has been neglected together with its measurement technique; however, latest surveys proved that thoron's existence is expectable in flats and in workplace in ...
