Treatment of Electroplating Cr(VI) for Reduction Cr(VI) by Electrocoagulation in Continuous Operation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences, 2016
The performance of electrocoagulation, with aluminium sacrificial anode, in the treatment of metal ion Cr(VI) containing wastewater, has been investigated. Several working parameters, such as pH, current density and metal ion concentrations were studied in an attempt to achieve a higher removal capacity.

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

The enhanced effect of oxalic acid on the electroreduction of Cr(VI) via formation of intermediate Cr(VI)-oxalate complex

open access: yes, 2018
In this study, the enhanced effect of oxalic acid (Ox) on Cr(VI) electroreduction was evaluated. It was found that for Cr(VI)-contaminated solution ([Cr(VI)]0 = 1.0 mM, pH = 3.0), addition of 5.0 mM Ox can significantly increase Cr(VI) reduction from 0 ...

Advanced Oxidation Process Based on the Cr(III)/Cr(VI) Redox Cycle

open access: yes, 2011
Oxidative degradation of aqueous organic pollutants, using 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) as a main model substrate, was achieved with the concurrent H2O2-mediated transformation of Cr(III) to Cr(VI). The Fenton-like oxidation of 4-CP is initiated by the reaction

Efficient removal of Cr (VI) from coal gangue by indigenous bacteria-YZ1 bacteria: Adsorption mechanism and reduction characteristics of extracellular polymer

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
The existence of heavy metals (especially Cr (VI)) in coal gangue has brought great safety risks to the environment. The indigenous bacteria (YZ1 bacteria) were separated and applied for removing Cr (VI) from the coal gangue, in which its tolerance to Cr

Functional comparison of EncB and EncC cargo proteins in iron storage within the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Encapsulins are protein nanocompartments that play an important role in iron storage. In the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin system, two cargo proteins called EncB and EncC contribute to iron mineralization. Here, we show that EncB and EncC generate iron‐containing minerals with distinct chemical compositions, suggesting that the composition of stored ...

Development of a new Cr(VI)-biosorbent from agricultural biowaste

open access: yes, 2019
Among useless but abundant agricultural biowastes such as banana skin, green tea waste, oak leaf, walnut shell, peanut shell and rice husk, in this study, banana skin was screened as the most efficient biomaterial to remove toxic Cr(VI) from aqueous ...

Redução de cromo hexavalente por bactérias isoladas de solos contaminados com cromo Reduction of hexavlent chromium by isolated bacteria of contaminated soils with chromium
