A phase-field model for fatigue crack growth
A phase-field model is presented for the study of fatigue crack growth. A crack growth viscosity parameter is introduced into the standard phase-field model for brittle fracture to account for rate- or cycle-dependent crack growth phenomena. A modified J-

Craze and Crack Growths in Polycarbonate
AbstractCraze and crack growth have been studied in polycarbonate. The results are correlated by a stress intensity factor derived from fracture mechanics. A new model taking creep into account is proposed to explain the experimental results. Theoretical predictions derived from the model are compared with experimental results.

Controlling fatigue crack paths for crack surface marking and growth investigations
While it is well known that fatigue crack growth in metals that display confined slip, such as high strength aluminium alloys, develop crack paths that are responsive to the loading direction and the local microstructural orientation, it is less well ...

A mechanistic modelling methodology for microstructure-sensitive fatigue crack growth
A mechanistic methodology for simulating microstructurally-sensitive (tortuosity and propagation rate) fatigue crack growth in ductile metals is introduced which utilises the recently introduced dislocation configurational stored energy as the measure of

Modeling of creep-fatigue interaction effects on crack growth at elevated temperatures
The well-known load frequency effect on creep-fatigue crack growth is explained by the interactions between fatigue and creep loading and is quantified using the concept of plasticity-induced crack closure.

Crack tip strain evolution and crack closure during overload of a growing fatigue crack [PDF]
It is generally accepted that fatigue crack growth is retarded after an overload, which has been explained either by plasticity-induced crack closure or near-tip residual stress.
