SIMULATION OF FATIGUE CRACK INITIATION LIFE OF TC4 TITANIUM ALLOY BASED ON ITS MESOSCOPIC PROPERTIES

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2021
This paper presents that the prediction model of fatigue crack initiation life of TC4 titanium alloy, and the feasibility of the model in predicting the fatigue crack initiation life of TC4 titanium alloy is verified by experiments.

Observation of the initial process of internal fracture in very high cycle fatigue in Ti-6Al-4V by synchrotron radiation μCT imaging

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
The initiation and growth of internal small fatigue cracks with around ten or several dozen μm in Ti-6Al-4V were nondestructively examined by using synchrotron radiation μCT at the large synchrotron radiation facility SPring-8.

Effects of graphite nodules on crack growth behaviour of austempered ductile iron [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Austempered ductile iron (ADI) is a candidate material for camshafts, where however, the early stages of fatigue damage are of major concern during service.

Experimental investigation on crack initiation and damage stresses of deep granite under triaxial compression using acoustic methods

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2023
Crack initiation stress and crack damage stress are two critical indices for assessing the fracture strength of rock mass. However, understanding the stress characteristics of crack initiation and damage under triaxial compression remains still immature.

A discrete dislocation dynamics study aiming at understanding fatigue crack initiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We use discrete dislocation dynamics to build a model for fatigue crack initiation in a surface grain. Dislocations are modeled as line singularities in an elastic medium where they can be generated from pre-existing sources, glide or annihilate.

Local and non-local approaches to creep crack initiation and propagation

open access: yes, 2003
A functional form of local brittle strength conditions for a time- or history-dependent materials is presented. The particular strength condition associated with the Robinson linear damage accumulation rule and the power-type durability diagram is ...

Prediction of fatigue crack initiation life in SA312 Type 304LN austenitic stainless steel straight pipes with notch

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2022
In the nuclear power plants, stainless steel is widely used for fabrication of various components such as piping and pipe fittings. These piping components are subjected to cyclic loading due to start up and shut down of the nuclear power plants.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
