CRACK PROPAGATION MODELING

Mathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences, 1994
In this paper, we review recent advances in mathematical and computer science techniques for modeling crack propagation in solids. The fracture mechanics aspect of this problem is attacked by boundary integral equation methods, in particular the use of hypersingular integral equations for analyzing crack geometries.

Crack Propagation

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1962
This paper deals with crack propagation under programme‐fatigue loading; the programme being derived from a gust spectrum. The validity of the Palmgren‐Miner rule for crack propagation has been studied and its usefulness for design purposes is discussed.

AUTOMATIC CRACK PROPAGATION TRACKING

Computers & Structures, 1985
A finite element based approach to fully automatic crack propagation tracking is presented. The procedure presented combines fully automatic mesh generation with linear fracture mechanics techniques in a geometrically based finite element code capable of automatically tracking cracks in two-dimensional domains.

Fatigue crack propagation. Report 2. A crack propagation model

Strength of Materials, 1988
1. A model of fatigue crack propagation was proposed; the model is based on determining the specific energy of inelastic strain cumulated at the distance X* from the crack tip, with an allowance made for the energy irreversibly scattered within the scope of the zone of damageRm (Rm≥X*). 2.

Interfacial Crack Propagation

The Journal of Adhesion, 1975
Abstract Interfacial crack propagation studies were conducted on specimens of epoxy bonded to aluminum under both tensile and bending loads. The effect of surface roughness of the aluminum on fracture toughness was measured for four different surface finishes: polished, milled, glass-peened and sandblasted. It was found that increased surface roughness

Models of crack propagation

Physical Review A, 1992
Three simple models of steady-state crack propagation are examined in a search for clues about the nature of dynamic velocity-selection mechanisms in these systems. The first is a one-dimensional model with stick-slip friction which includes, as a special case, a model of an earthquake fault.
