In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Automatic and time-resolved determination of fracture characteristics from in situ experiments

open access: yesMaterials & Design
The characterization of materials in ever smaller dimensions is crucial for the growing demand for miniaturized devices. Hence, in situ fracture experiments are frequently performed at the micron to sub-micron scale. To evaluate fracture process of these

Stress intensity factor of wood from crack-tip displacement fields obtained from digital image processing

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 2004
Stress intensity factor of radiata pine (Pinus radiata) in Tangential-Longitudinal opening mode was determined from crack-tip displacement fields obtained from digital image correlation in conjunction with orthotropic fracture theory. For lower loads,

Interaction of a finite crack with shear waves in an infinite magnetoelastic medium

open access: yesApplied and Computational Mechanics, 2021
The aim of this paper is to investigate the interaction of a finite crack with shear waves in an infinite magnetoelastic medium. Fourier integral transformation is applied to convert the boundary value problem for a homogeneous, isotropic elastic material

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

The effect of low-cycle fatigue on evolution of fracture mechanics parameters in residual stress field caused by cold hole expansion [PDF]

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2019
Localized displacement measurements based on electronic speckle-pattern interferometry are used to obtain crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD), stress intensity factor (SIF) and T-stress values during crack growth around cold-expanded holes.

Experimental study on fracture behavior of pre-notched mortar beams using ESPI technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (ESPI) technique is of high sensitivity and can provide full-field surface deformation. This paper introduces the application of ESPI technique to measure the surface deformation of pre-notched mortar beams in ...

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.
