Magnetic Textiles: A Review of Materials, Fabrication, Properties, and Applications
Magnetic textiles (M‐textiles) are emerging as a programmable materials platform that merges magnetic matter with hierarchical textile structures. This article consolidates magnetic material classes, textile architectures, and fabrication and magnetization strategies, revealing structure–property–function relationships that govern magneto‐mechanical ...

Interfacial adhesion of laser clad functionally graded materials [PDF]
Specially designed samples of laser clad AlSi40 functionally graded materials (FGM) are made for evaluating the interfacial adhesion. To obtain the interfacial bond strength notches are made right at the interface of the FGMs.

Investigation of Atmospheric Moisture during Heat Treatment of Glass Fibres
The tensile strength of single water-sized E-glass fibres that were thermally conditioned, either in air or under vacuum, was investigated. The vacuum removed water from the conditioning atmosphere, as well as the fibre surfaces, at room temperature but ...

On the Use of Approximation Methods for Microcrack Shielding Problems [PDF]
There is experimental evidence that stress-induced microcracking near a macrocrack tip enhances the fracture toughness of brittle materials. In considering the interaction of the macrocrack with multiple microcracks using a discrete model, it is ...

Studying Macromolecular Composition in Cell–Cell Interfaces Using 3D Membrane Reconstitution Systems
A comprehensive understanding of the interactions between proteins, lipids and glycocalyx components at the immune synapse is still lacking. Here, an artificial and a semi‐artificial model contact system were established to reconstitute the cell‐cell contact in 3D. The model systems enable the examination of macromolecule enrichment or depletion at the

Near-threshold fatigue propagation of physically through-thickness short and long cracks in a low alloy steel [PDF]
International audienceIn this paper, the near-threshold fatigue behavior of physically through-thickness short cracks and of long cracks in a low alloy steel is investigated by experiments in ambient air. Physically through-thickness short fatigue cracks

Ultra‐flexible electrodes composed of single‐walled carbon nanotubes on a polymeric substrate exhibit excellent transparency, water resistance, and conformability to hairy surfaces. These non‐invasive nanofilms are easily pierced by trichomes, overcoming the structural barriers in plant electrophysiology.
