Dermatological disease was ruled out.

Dimorphic fungal infection presenting as dysphagia in a dog

It exhibited repeated hard swallowing with apparent pain and anxiety after eating, as well as infrequent episodes of regurgitation that were alleviated by adding water to kibble.
