Clinical Utility of Z‐Score Distribution Mapping in Epileptogenic Zone Localizations

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 4, April 2026.
Z‐score distribution mapping (Z‐map) is a noninvasive technique for epilepsy surgery planning and provides a comprehensive evaluation of regional variations in the performance of Z‐maps, which is a complementary tool for optimizing stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) electrode implantation, especially in patients with inconclusive imaging findings or ...

Inhibition of Transglutaminase 2 Preserves Blood–Brain Barrier Integrity and Improves Neurological Outcomes After Experimental Traumatic Brain Injury in Mice

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 4, April 2026.
The article unraveled that inhibition or knockdown of TGM2 can restore blood–brain barrier (BBB) permeability and ameliorate neurological deficits and cognitive dysfunction in a mouse model of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Mechanistically, TGM2 likely modulates the IL‐17 signaling pathway to regulate MMP9 expression, thereby affecting BBB permeability.

Transnasal Ventral Brainstem Epidural Electrical Stimulation Enhances Consciousness in Anesthetized Sheep: A Feasibility Study

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study provides the first experimental evidence of a novel transnasal ventral brainstem epidural electrical stimulation approach in anesthetized sheep and demonstrates that this procedure can induce behavioral arousal and cortical electrophysiological changes toward a wake‐like state, holding promise for the treatment of chronic disorders of ...

Sex differences in genomics, immune microenvironment and immunotherapy response in adult grade 4 gliomas

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
Overall survival of patients with brain tumors receiving ICIs treatment Abstract Purpose Sex differences in the prevalence of gliomas have been reported; however, whether there are sex differences in the development and immunotherapy of gliomas remains poorly understood.

Accumulation of Siglec10+CX3CR1+ Macrophages in the Tumor Microenvironment of Glioblastomas

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 4, April 2026.
By comparing various brain tumors, we identified a CX3CR1+ Siglec10+ double‐positive macrophage subpopulation specifically enriched in highly malignant Glioblastomas (GBMs), wherein they accumulated in metabolically active tumor areas. Thus, they potentially serve as a diagnostic indicator population for GBMs and as targets of future GBM‐specific ...

Mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with hippocampal sclerosis: Seizure, neuropsychological, and quality of life outcomes of 100 patients treated with trans‐anterior T1 selective amygdalohippocampectomy

open access: yesEpileptic Disorders, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 389-400, April 2026.
Abstract Objective For mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with hippocampal sclerosis (MTLE with HS), laser interstitial thermal therapy has recently been increasingly used. At our institute, however, selective amygdalohippocampectomy by a trans‐anterior T1 subpial approach (trans‐anterior T1 SAH) has been used for MTLE with HS. Here, we examined the seizure,
