Shellfish producers have proposed using depuration systems to reduce Vibrio parahaemolyticus levels by supporting the oysters' natural purging ability. For commercial viability, depuration efficacy must be validated in relevant species and at scale using

In this study, we investigated the food sources of eastern oysters Crassostrea virginica cultivated in Atlantic Canada. Stable isotopes (13C and 15N) and fatty acid biomarkers were used to identify these sources under in situ conditions for suspended (∼0.

Interaction of Vibrio vulnificus and the Eastern Oyster, Crassostrea virginica
The estuarine bacterium, Vibrio vulnificus , is a human pathogen associated with the consumption of raw oysters. To date, no effective means exists for the elimination of this health hazard in oysters meant for raw consumption. The purpose of this study was to investígate the interaction between V. vulnificus and the eastern oyster.

This study integrates thermal performance curves with species distribution modeling to assess how climate‐driven temperature changes affect feeding efficiency across freshwater, marine, and terrestrial species. By mapping thermal habitat suitability and projected feeding‐rate shifts, we develop a priority ranking framework to identify species and ...

Adaptation to warm environments with a fast pace of life in a marine predatory snail
Abstract Understanding how latitudinal temperature variation shapes local adaptation of life‐history strategies is crucial for predicting future responses to warming. Contrasting predictive frameworks explain how growth and other life‐history traits may respond to differing selective pressures across latitude. However, these frameworks have rarely been

Abstract Seagrasses suffer population decline when environmental stress exceeds physiological tolerance. In such instances, seagrass restoration can be successful if stressors are alleviated; however, many stressors cannot be addressed at a local scale. As such, seagrass restoration efforts often fail. In this study, we tested whether artificial oyster
