Control of Covalent Bond Enables Efficient Magnetic Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Giant and reversible magnetocaloric effect (MCE) is achieved by tuning covalency through sub‐unit‐cell chemical engineering, establishing a novel design principle for effective hysteresis control in magnetocaloric materials. Abstract Magnetic cooling, harnessing the temperature change in matter when exposed to a magnetic field, presents an energy ...

Stabilizing Frustrated Phase Transitions in Selective Oxidation Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Using multimodal operando spectromicroscopy, the frustrated phase transition responsible for selective oxidation over cobalt oxide spinel catalysts is identified, corresponding to combined surface reaction and Mars‐van Krevelen (MvK) dynamics. This regime is disrupted by the formation of mobile vacancies and the depletion of active oxygen at high ...

Dissemination of colorectal cancer information among Hispanic patients and their social network

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Background Colorectal cancer (CRC) screening decision aids can inform patients about CRC screening benefits, costs, and procedures. Patients who receive the decision aid report wanting to share the information with their families and friends.

Difference-making factors for successful implementation of a multicomponent colorectal cancer screening program in rural clinics (SMARTER CRC)

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
IntroductionRural disparities in colorectal cancer (CRC) screening persist despite the availability of effective, evidence-based interventions. In this study, we aimed to understand what characteristics lead to success when implementing a multicomponent ...

Mucosa‐Interfacing Capsule for In Situ Sensing the Elasticity of Biological Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
A fundamental mechanism of palpating soft materials is reported to sense deep tissue elasticity in situ with minimal invasion using the interaction between the robot palpation unit and soft tissues. Both the robot locomotion and elasticity sensing functions are remotely controlled by external magnetic fields, while the sensing data are wirelessly ...

High‐Transmission Mid‐Infrared Bandpass Filters using Hybrid Metal‐Dielectric Metasurfaces for CO2 Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
This article presents a hybrid metal‐dielectric metasurface in transmission mode for mid‐infrared (MIR) spectroscopy. Composed of germanium on aluminium cylinders atop a calcium fluoride substrate, the metasurface achieves 80% transmission efficiency at λ = 2.6 µm with a narrow full‐width‐half‐maximum of 0.4 µm.

Enhancing Triplet Excitons Lifetime Through Controlled Intermolecular Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Singlet fission (SF) is investigated in pentacene embedded in a surface‐anchored metal–organic framework, enabling a molecular arrangement inaccessible in pure organic crystals. This architecture changes the singlet fission dynamics significantly and enhances the triplet lifetime by almost four orders of magnitude.
