Polymer Nanogels with Albumin Reporting Interface Created Using RAFT Precipitation Polymerization for Disease Diagnosis and Food Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Herein, polymer nanogels with a reporting interface for albumin are synthesized through reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) precipitation polymerization of di(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate and N,N’‐methylenebis(acrylamide) using a poly(2‐methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine) macro‐RAFT agent, followed by dansyl ...

The blood urea nitrogen/creatinine (BUN/cre) ratio was U-shaped associated with all-cause mortality in general population

open access: yesRenal Failure, 2022
Objectives This study aimed to explore the relationship between the blood urea nitrogen/creatinine (BUN/Cre) ratio and all-cause or cause-specific mortality in the general population.

Liraglutide and renal outcomes in type 2 diabetes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In a randomized, controlled trial that compared liraglutide, a glucagon-like peptide 1 analogue, with placebo in patients with type 2 diabetes and high cardiovascular risk who were receiving usual care, we found that liraglutide resulted in lower risks ...

Serum creatinine: advantages and pitfalls

open access: yesJournal of Laboratory and Precision Medicine, 2018
Serum creatinine (sCr) is today the most commonly used marker to estimate glomerular filtration rate (GFR). However, measuring and interpreting creatinine is not so simple.

Label‐Free Impedimetric Determination of Cortisol Using Gold Nanoparticles Functionalized Laser‐Induced Graphene Interdigitated Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Non‐faradaic label‐free impedimetric determination of cortisol is demonstrated with gold nanoparticles (AuNP) functionalized laser‐induced graphene interdigitated electrodes (LIG‐IDE). The AuNP functionalized LIG‐IDE exhibits remarkable characteristics including good logarithmic linear range, high reproducibility, repeatability, and robust selectivity.

Improving osteoporosis treatment rates in inpatients admitted with hip fracture: A healthcare improvement initiative in a tertiary referral hospital

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, Volume 5, Issue 4, Page 264-271, December 2022., 2022
Our hospital introduced a standardized protocol for the treatment of osteoporosis in patients admitted for hip fracture. The aim of this article was to describe its implementation as well as assess the protocol's effect on treatment rates and safety. In our analysis, there was significant improvement in treatment rates with no instances of acute kidney

A General Bayesian Model for Heteroskedastic Data with Fully Conjugate Full-Conditional Distributions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Models for heteroskedastic data are relevant in a wide variety of applications ranging from financial time series to environmental statistics. However, the topic of modeling the variance function conditionally has not seen near as much attention as modeling the mean.

Evaluation of Canine Pancreas-Specific Lipase Activity, Lipase Activity, and Trypsin-Like Immunoreactivity in an Experimental Model of Acute Kidney Injury in Dogs. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BackgroundDiagnosis of pancreatitis in dogs is complicated by extrapancreatic disorders that can alter the results of laboratory tests. Extrapancreatic disorders can also affect the diagnosis of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI).
