Engineering Approaches to Modify Immunomodulatory Functions of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs): Tissue Regeneration and Clinical Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

Data‐Driven Modeling of Composition–Processing–Microstructure Relations for Recycled Aluminum Cast Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Interpretable machine learning reveals how composition and processing govern the formation and microstructural burden of Fe‐rich intermetallic compounds in recycled Al–Si–Fe–Mn alloys. By separating morphology selection from morphology‐conditioned burden partitioning, this framework shows that identical Fe contents can yield different intermetallic ...

Architecture‐Controlled Hierarchical Carbon‐Based Current Collector for Mitigating Interfacial Instabilities in Lithium‐Metal Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A defect‐engineered, hierarchically porous carbon black/CNT current collector guides lithiophilic nucleation in 3D architecture. Steam‐created defects enable uniform Li plating, while CNTs provide conductivity and a lightweight framework, suppressing dendrites and side reactions for stable anode‐free cells.

Credibility assessment for sustainable consumption: A laboratory study

open access: yesCogent Business & Management, 2017
Sustainable consumption has the potential to hold firms accountable for the negative externalities they impose on society and the environment, but consumers are often unsure whether to believe that the products and companies promoted as being sustainable

Ovarian Cancer Diagnosis and Chemoresistance Prediction Model Based on cfRNA Molecular Signature

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A deep learning model analyzes cfRNA profiles extracted from the blood of OVCA patients. This innovative approach distinguishes OVCA from healthy controls with high accuracy. Crucially, it reliably predicts patient response to chemotherapy (sensitive versus resistant subgroups).

Bioinspired Passive Flow Routing to Mitigate Thrombosis in Prosthetic Heart Valves and Cardiovascular Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bioinspired passive flow routing mitigates thrombosis in cardiovascular devices by redirecting a small fraction of forward flow into stagnation‐prone regions. Inspired by avian alula and aircraft slat mechanisms, strategically placed routing channels restore washout around mechanical heart valves, reducing low‐shear exposure by four orders of magnitude

Sampling Method Based on Fuzzy Membership for Computing Negative Sample Credibility and Its Applications

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Current sampling methods do not provide effective quantitative assessment mechanisms for evaluating the intrinsic credibility of negative samples. This impedes the systematic quantification of the effect of misselection of geologically predisposed areas (

The challenge of assessing credibility when children with intellectual disabilities are alleged victims of abuse

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Disability Research, 2009
Assessing credibility is of importance when deciding the legal outcome of a case. Such an assessment can be especially challenging when the witness is a child with intellectual disabilities.
