The role of word frequency and morpho-orthography in agreement processing

open access: yes, 2020
Agreement attraction in comprehension (when an ungrammatical verb is read quickly if preceded by a feature-matching local noun) is well described by a cue-based retrieval framework. This suggests a role for lexical retrieval in attraction.

Analysis of regression confidence intervals and Bayesian credible intervals for uncertainty quantification [PDF]

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 2012
Confidence intervals based on classical regression theories augmented to include prior information and credible intervals based on Bayesian theories are conceptually different ways to quantify parametric and predictive uncertainties. Because both confidence and credible intervals are used in environmental modeling, we seek to understand their ...

Trends in Dermatopolymyositis Mortality, 1999–2022: A Nationwide Population‐Based Study, United States

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
We report the national burden of dermatopolymyositis mortality over the past quarter century using the US national vital statistics data. Age‐standardized mortality rates for dermatopolymyositis decreased at an annual rate of 3.8% each year, which was higher than the annual percent decrease for deaths from all other causes.

Consistency between direct trial evidence and Bayesian Mixed Treatment Comparison: Is head-to-head evidence always more reliable? [PDF]

open access: yes
Objectives This study aims to highlight the benefits of Bayesian mixed treatment comparison (MTC), within a case study of the efficacy of three treatments (pegfilgrastim, filgrastim and lenograstim) for the prevention of febrile neutropenia (FN ...

Seroprevalence of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 IgG in Juba, South Sudan, 2020

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2021
Relatively few coronavirus disease cases and deaths have been reported from sub-Saharan Africa, although the extent of its spread remains unclear. During August 10–September 11, 2020, we recruited 2,214 participants for a representative household-based ...

Reduction in Renal Relapse and Preservation of Long‐Term Kidney Function After Lupus Low Disease Activity in Patients With Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Lupus low disease activity state (LLDAS) is a validated treatment target in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), but limited studies have explored the role of LLDAS in lupus nephritis (LN). This study aims to investigate the frequency and predictors of LLDAS attainment and its benefit on LN relapse and renal function preservation in patients ...

Estimation of Inverse Weibull Distribution Under Type-I Hybrid Censoring [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The hybrid censoring is a mixture of Type I and Type II censoring schemes. This paper presents the statistical inferences of the Inverse Weibull distribution when the data are Type-I hybrid censored. First we consider the maximum likelihood estimators of

Knee Crepitus and Osteoarthritis Features in Young Adults Following Traumatic Knee Injury

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study explored the association between knee crepitus and the presence, and worsening, of structural osteoarthritis features and self‐reported outcomes in young adults following traumatic knee injury. Methods One year following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), 112 participants (41 female participants; median age 28 years ...

Estimation of Stress-Strength model in the Generalized Linear Failure Rate Distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we study the estimation of $R=P [Y < X ]$, also so-called the stress-strength model, when both $X$ and $Y$ are two independent random variables with the generalized linear failure rate distributions, under different assumptions about their
