Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Creep behavior of tantalum alloy T-222 at 1365 to 1700 K [PDF]

open access: yes
High vacuum creep tests on the tantalum T-222 alloy at 0.42 to 0.52 T sub m show that the major portion of the creep curves, up to at least 1 percent strain, can be best described by an increasing creep rate, with strain varying linearly with time ...

Residual-state creep of clastic soil in a reactivated slow-moving landslide in the Three Gorges Reservoir Region, China

open access: yesLandslides, 2018
We study the creep properties of clastic soil in residual state. The intact samples are taken from a reactivated slow-moving landslide in the Three Gorges Reservoir Region, China.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Insights of the asynchronous strain evolution of lean coal in uniaxial compression creep

open access: yesScientific Reports
Owing to the heterogeneity, discontinuity and complex material structure, typical coal exhibits intricate deformation characteristics during long-term creep processes.

The mechanical properties of anisotropic polymers: Progress report no. 6 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Part 1 General Developments The basic development work on the tensile creep apparatus was completed by March, 1968. A description of the latest 'heavy-duty' creep rig and two types of contraction extensometer, together with the relevant creep trials,

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Creep behavior and cavitation evolution of 15CrMoG steel at high temperatures

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
15CrMoG steel is a type of heat-resistant steel frequently used in boiler and piping systems. Creep properties of the 15CrMoG steel at service temperatures are not much documented due to the difficulties in obtaining long-term creep data.
