Evaluation of Three Constitutive Models for the Prediction of Hastelloy X Elevated Temperature Cyclic Response [PDF]
The approach for the method development assumes that, for a thermally loaded structure, the overall strain history is defined by linear elastic analysis.

This study combines full‐field tomography with diffraction mapping to quantify radial (ε002$\varepsilon _{002}$) and axial (ε100$\varepsilon _{100}$) lattice strain in wrinkled carbon‐fiber specimens for the first time. Radial microstrain gradients (−14.5 µεMPa$\varepsilon \mathrm{MPa}$−1) are found to signal damage‐prone zones ahead of failure, which ...

An Implanted Tooth That Can Feel
To endow the implanted tooth with masticatory perception, herein we demonstrate that a 3D‐printed piezoelectric‐core/robust‐sheath implanted tooth can rebuild the sensing feedback, serving as “mechanoreceptors” in converting the mechanical chewing force to electrical signals, and up to brain through surrounding alveolar nerve system.

Hierarchical Artificial Muscle with Nonlinear Elasticity for Antagonistic and Cyclic Robotics
We construct hierarchical muscles by plying nylon fibers around a heating wire. The hierarchical muscle shows a J‐shaped passive curve, which shows benefit in antagonistic muscle pair and work accumulation mechanism. We also develop a computational, first‐principle model to understand the physics of both active actuation stroke and passive J‐curve ...

Treatment of multiaxial creep-fatigue by strainrange partitioning [PDF]
Strainrange partitioning is a recently developed method for treating creep-fatigue interaction at elevated temperature. Most of the work to date has been on uniaxially loaded specimens, where as practical applications often involve load multiaxiality. It

Cyclic creep and fatigue of TD-NiCr (thoria-dispersion-strengthened nickel-chromium), TD-Ni, and NiCr sheet at 1200 C [PDF]
The resistance of thin TD-NiCr sheet to cyclic deformation was compared with that of TD-Ni and a conventional nickel-chromium alloy. Strains were determined by a calibration technique which combines room-temperature strain gage and deflection ...

Development of a simplified procedure for rocket engine thrust chamber life prediction with creep [PDF]
An analytical method for predicting engine thrust chamber life is developed. The method accounts for high pressure differentials and time-dependent creep effects both of which are significant in limiting the useful life of the shuttle main engine thrust ...

Unveiling a Bulk WTaV Multicomponent Alloy With Superior Thermal Properties and Manufacturability
ABSTRACT Many tungsten (W)‐based medium and high entropy alloys (HEA) demonstrate superior microstructural stability and enhanced mechanical properties as compared to pure W, effectively rendering them as viable candidate materials for extreme environments such as nuclear fusion, aerospace applications, and so on.
