Community‐informed and codesigned research to understand the impacts of railways on wildlife
Abstract Trains cause mortalities of several animal species, but the ecological impacts of railways are understudied. Most research on wildlife–train collisions has focused on large mammals, but understanding railway‐specific risks for underrepresented taxa, especially vulnerable species, is important for developing effective mitigation strategies ...

Properties of Creosote-Tamol Prepared from Creosote-oil

Ephemeral flows and vegetation productivity: Insights for desert conservation
Abstract In desert environments, infrequent but intense rainfall events drive ephemeral flows that shape the landscape, influence vegetation patterns, and sustain biodiversity. However, despite their ecological and hydrological importance, ephemeral flows are poorly mapped and assessed, hindering effective study, management, and conservation.

Locally, mammalian herbivores may have significant effects on the abundance and fitness of plant species. This study focuses on the interaction between cuises (Microcavia australis –Rodentia-) and creosote bush (Larrea cuneifolia –Zygophyllacea-), which

The draft genome sequence and annotation of the desert woodrat Neotoma lepida
We present the de novo draft genome sequence for a vertebrate mammalian herbivore, the desert woodrat (Neotoma lepida). This species is of ecological and evolutionary interest with respect to ingestion, microbial detoxification and hepatic metabolism of ...

Abstract Microsites beneath shrub canopies in dryland landscapes characterized by a mosaic of bare ground and patchy vegetation are often considered critical for the establishment of understory species. “Shrub islands” can create more favorable environmental conditions for both early plant establishment and longer term persistence near the shrub canopy

Abstract Agroecosystems, which include row crops, pasture, and grass and shrub grazing lands, are sensitive to changes in management, weather, and genetics. To better understand how these systems are responding to changes, we need to improve monitoring and modeling carbon and water dynamics.
