Finding Voice Across Platforms: Asian American and Asian Transnational Youths' Identity Negotiation in Social Media Spaces

open access: yesJournal of Adolescent &Adult Literacy, Volume 70, Issue 2, September/October 2026.
ABSTRACT Despite being one of the largest immigrant groups in the United States (U.S.), Asian heritage youth are often essentialized by dominant literacy ideologies as quiet, obedient, or culturally foreign, leaving their identity negotiation underexamined and insufficiently supported.

Migratory divides highlight intraspecific flexibility in the stopover tactic of black kites

open access: yesJournal of Avian Biology, Volume 2026, Issue 5, September 2026.
In migrating raptors, route choice can be influenced by multiple factors, including geography, weather conditions, energy constraints, and social interactions. The selected route may in turn be associated with different patterns of stopover habitat use, yet the relationship between the two remains poorly understood.

Effect of age class on the survivorship and spatial movement patterns of headstarted Texas horned lizards soft‐released into an urban population

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 7, September 2026.
When compared to resident lizards of the corresponding age class, juvenile headstarted Texas horned lizards soft‐released into an urban population exhibited more favorable responses to short‐term translocation objectives (i.e., daily movement rates, home range sizes, and survival rates) than did conspecifics headstarted to the adult age class ...

A step into the shadows: Evolutionary shifts in fruit structure and dispersal strategies in Asian mycoheterotrophic Ericaceae

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 5, Page 1419-1433, September 2026.
This study examines how the fruits of non‐photosynthetic forest plants in the Monotropoideae (Ericaceae) have evolved into the diversity observed today. By analyzing four Asian species, we identified a shift from dry, dehiscent fruits that release seeds into the air to fleshy, berry‐like fruits adapted for animal dispersal.

Edible Insect Allergens: An Emerging Food Safety Challenge

open access: yesSustainable Food Proteins, Volume 4, Issue 3, September 2026.
Allergic responses to edible insects arise via two main pathways: cross‐reactivity with homologous arthropod allergens and primary sensitization to edible insect proteins, both leading to IgE‐mediated immune activation. ABSTRACT Edible insects are increasingly promoted as sustainable protein sources; however, their allergenic potential remains a ...
