Optimization of critical buckling load for variable stiffness composites using the lamination parameters as the field variables [PDF]
Buckling is a critical design concern for thin-walled structures and fiber-reinforced composite materials because it occurs with much lower strains than in failure. In this study, an in-house code is developed to optimize the critical buckling load using

Double Helix Structure for Stable Flexural Actuation in Soft Robotics
This work introduces a double‐helical architecture for soft robotic actuators that enhances twisting resistance, increases output force, and minimizes undesired deformation. Actuators driven by shape‐memory alloy wires exhibit a roughly fivefold higher torsional/flexural stiffness ratio and 50% greater force output.

Dynamic buckling behavior of multi-walled carbon nanotubes subjected to step axial loading [PDF]
This paper studies the dynamic buckling behavior of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) subjected to step axial loading. A buckling condition is derived, and numerical results are presented for MWNTs under fixed boundary conditions.

This work presents a magnetic bronchoscopy robot with a novel multi‐segment variable stiffness catheter. This catheter can not only move flexibly in the narrow bronchi but also harden according to the need to provide support. Combined with remote wireless magnetic field drive, it provides a more precise and effective solution for biopsy of deep lung ...
